Hi all,

first the good news:

gameex proves to be bug-free now on my system now!! no crashes no nothing, just awesome. With the catalyst suite having improved on their profilemanager with an update as well, i feel finally nothing short of the much desired 'seamless' experience :) thanks for everyone working on the product

the bad news (but i hope its small)

-all of a sudden pressing 'L' on my tankstick (wich is the 2p fire-button), i am immediately returned to a new game-ex menu called 'in game' with the the options to 'resume game', 'exit game', 'add to favorites' and 'record video'(maybey 1 more i forgot). Together with a brief description about the game. I figured i would just disable it in the gameex-config, or change its inputkey, but somehow i'm unable to find it. The closest thing i found was a feature called 'in game key' under the input section wich read '76'. But clearing this number nor changing it to 00 solved the issue, so i guess this isn't what i'm looking for? any assistance is appreciated :)

-second problem seems to be with displaying video (avi). This used to be fullscreen, and now it is still buttt...not completely. It leaves a little desktop (about 1/6th) in bare sight on the right revealing my desktop gadgets. Any idea what i could do? I have no problem switching to another videoplayer (VLC preferably) if that solves the problem, but do these integrate as well like the built-in player (auto-fullscreen; no buttons or bars etc)?

thanks in advance for those chiming in :),

regards,

Hi, that is the right setting, the in game key. I think maybe its defaulting as youve not specified a valid value. Set it to F11 or something. You can use the Setup Wizard for that.

Im pretty sure the video issue is fixed in the latest release? Let me know.

Thanks

Hi Tom,

thanks for helping out,

i did what you asked, and updated from 11.07 to 11.08. In the setup wizard i changed the key, and this worked, so thats one down....buttt one to go. The video-issue isn't resolved. I tried implementing Videolan (VLC) into the configmenu, because it supports command lines, but so far no luck. The thing i tried is (path)/vlc.exe "[path]/[file]" --fullscreen, but vlc opens and says its unable to find [path]/[file]. I know, it was a bit of longshot lol :) I'm looking further into it, because like i said i don't mind switching to VLC, but i wonder how GameEx communicates with VLC as to what file needs to be opened. Any thoughts?

regards :)

Perhaps try:

vlc.exe --fullscreen [VIDEO]

I don't have an external player setup so if that doesn't work then location of the vlc.exe might need to be included as well.

tx frequency, this is helping me in the right direction, just not quite there yet :(

with the tag , at least some communication between gameex and vlc is established, only oddly game-ex seems to give the filename in parts ?!?!?

So VLC opens with an errorlog (in dutch, so i won't c/p it) that seems to translate that it receives the filename in parts??

log goes something like (for the example i'll use c:\video\movies\sample.avi)

error: can't find 'vide', unable to open

error: can't find 'o\movi', unable to open

error: can't find 'es\sam', unable to open

error: can't find 'ple.avi', unable to open

wt(heck)??? any suggestions?

if anyone has another external mediaprogram that he or she does know is fully and seamlessly functional with game-ex, i'm all ears as well of course :)

thanks in advance,

Hmmm. Usually the only time I've seen that is when the file needs to be in quotes but not sure how that works for videos. Give me some time to test for you and I'll give you the answer later this evening when I get a chance. It very well could be a bug cuz the results you're showing don't make sense.

Putting in quotes worked for me. So put this and it should work for you.

vlc.exe --fullscreen "[VIDEO]"

I understand the results you were getting as I received the same output when I ran without quotes. I don't know exactly how it was broken up as it's different when running emulators and such but the quotes seems to be the fix. Let me know how that works out for you.

you are a gentleman and a scholar frequency :) this works handsomely and i'm plenty satisfied with the results, thanks a lot!

No problem! Glad you got it sorted out. As far as your original issue, perhaps you just need to change the aspect of the video in the default player by pressing ENTER. If not then I don't know what exact problem could be. Maybe take a screen shot and post it so that your original problem can be resolved.
