Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone was near the Chicagoland area who considers themselves to be very knowledgeable with Gamex. I am not very knowledgeable with computers so I would require some on-site help to make sure I am using the program to its fullest potential on my brand new cab.

Feel free to leave your info in this thread or you can e-mail me.

Well, I know a little about Gameex, what is it not doing that you would like? What have you got setup and working? I'm sure we can fill in the blanks here. If you need help configuring things, we have a great board.

I do not live near Chicago, but I can remote into your machine if you need that sort of hands on assistance.

I am glad to hear we got some helpful people on the boards. However, I am in some bad shape. My cab is not hooked up to the internet, so the remote option is out. I see a lot of people who have customized gamex to where i want it to be, but have no idea how to get there. I got about 18 CD's to load, but have no idea how to map, create different options for nes, sega, n64 etc... but i did get all the regular arcade MAME games running. Themes, screensavers are all a plus with the setup. Will pay some decent dough for an on-site visit if you qualify.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Well, if you don't get any takers, and can put in a wirless usb nic card, or run a 100ft network cable to wherever your cab is let me know.

Id start by copying the contents of the CD's to your harddrive.

Hey.

Unfortunately, Chicago is a good 3.5 hour drive for me, and I work full time, have a small IT business, and also go to school so I can't help too much. If you have specific questions though, I'd be happy to help you as best as I can.

I can point you to a really looong networking cable and you can get Brian in there... He's much more knowledgable about map files and loaders than I am.

Sorry bro. :(

No problem, maybe I will see if I can get a cable to get connected to the internet. Can I just save the contents of the CD's to different folders in MY DOCUMENTS? At least then I will have them all on the computer.

If you decide to get it online then great.

As far as the "contents" of your CD's? We have no idea what CD's they are-- if in fact they are not DVD's.

One could assume that because Gameex is a gaming and multimedia frontend, your cd's are either roms or music/video.

If the above is correct, I would make some folders in your C:\ drive.

C:\emulation\nintendo\roms\

c:\emulation\SuperNintendo\roms\

etc...

c:\Videos\Movies

c:\videos\music\

C:\Music\Artist

etc.....

I would not use My Documents, as file paths become quite long, and most everything saves by default to those locations. I would be more interested in a uniform look and configuration.
