Hiya!!!

I have installed Gameex and many emus on my Asus ION based dualcore atom htpc... all is great until I needed to update the MAME games list a 2nd time after adding some more games. The screen just dimmed to black and there where no info on progress like usual... did a 3d update after a reboot still the same... you press update and the screen starts dimming to black. After some time you get back to Gameex but that's not how it is supposed to work right?

I also get games on my list that I actually don't have...

Also I noticed that the Nestopia configuration has a loader in it which is not there, so unless you manually edit the config option about the command line NES games through Nestopia just don't work :P

Yes, its not supposed to do that, correct. It does not do it for me here though. Are you using custom menus, or do you have the update list item somewhere different from the default? If you have the verify option on, which "should" be on by default, you should only get the games you have assuming your not using an obscurer MAME build. If not can you provide some more detail?

Thanks.

Well I am using the latest MAMEUI32 0.138 with a part of the 0.138 romset (those games that I actually like)

I have not messed with any of the settings you mention, just put mame on a folder, roms on a folder, artwork on folders and select said folders from the configuration wizard.

Then I just go and update the gamelist .

I would be more than happy to provide more info on that so it can be solved :)

allright, I am glad I could help :D

ps. I don't mind if you can recommend another mame build that could work better B)

today I updated to the 11.07 version, I deleted gamelist.txt and did a rescan. Screen was OK this time but it only found 502 of the 1064 games I have roms for. The same set with Mame32 finds 1064 games... I did an quick verify with one of my favorite games , Gals Panic :P , on mame32ui it shows and plays OK whereas gameex does not detect it at all...

edit: mameui32 finds 1064 with clones/regions , but still games like Gals Panic are missing...

Its now working as it should, but you probably need to adjust the filters under advanced mame settings. Turn off Clean List, and adjust the filters etc.

I actually have adult games turned ON... another game I found missing is "Sexy Parodius" (not an adult game  )... maybe I need to cleanup somehow the previous list? Is deletion of gamelist.txt enough? Tomorrow I will rebuild my set with the merged option , so all versions are in the main set, that way it will be more clean ...

It could be several reasons. It could be the filter filtering it out, or it could be the game does not work properly. It could be that the game does not verify (even though it works). The solution to this is to use the only existing setting, which wont work if you merge your games and remove the different sets. Also, you dont need to delete gamelist.txt each time.

I am now using veified merged roms and they show up OK. But there are some slight problems, if I choose "no clones unless better" some games just don't show... with clones for example Gradius and Gradius3 show up, when "no clones unless better" is used they both disappear from the list (seeing mameui32 gradiusIII is the main rom so it should be visible)

I did a crosscheck with MAME32UI, some other games are just missing, like Battle Garega, Bestri... They appear and play fine on MAMEUI32 without rom errors...

edit: FIXED! it was the japan/germa/countries filter in advanced mame settings... now ALL games show fine , I am sorry to bother you

maybe someone else reads this in the future and avoid such furstration :P
