MKV with soft subtitles

I'm looking to play video_ts folders and MKVs with soft subtitles through gameex.

I seem to have video_ts folders working with the dvd mpeg 2 codec set to Microsoft DVT-DVD Video Decoder. using page up/page down keys doesnt seem to affect the subtitles though.

Also, MKV files encoded with handbrake - the video plays, but pressing page up/down or CTRL + up/down doesnt bring up the subs (the subs are in vobsub format within the mkv container, i think). they are confirmed to be working ok and switchable in media player classic and VLC.

I'm running windows 7 with Shark007s win7 codecs installed - MKV uses Haalis splitter.
