I'll admit I'm a newbie. I don't yet fully comprehend all of the functionality of this software . . . my estimation is that it is very powerful, and is limited only by my own imigination/efforts/time in setting it all up.

I'm trying to learn, but I could use some help from anyone in the know.

I'm trying to find the best way to launch PC Games (like Call of Duty 4, etc from within GameEx). I read and followed the tutorial called "Setting up PC Games" exactly. However, it mentions that this is only one solution. After following this guide/tutorial, it works, but there are a few issues/glitches I hope someone can assist with.

My setup: I use GameJackal to launch PC games without the CD/DVD disc. My GameJackal shortcuts link to GameJackal profiles which autolaunch the game itself without the disc, so my folder of shortcuts are GameJackal shortcuts.

The issue: when I press "Play this Game" from within GameEx . . . I see a brief black screen followed by a return to normal windows desktop . . . . followed by the autolaunching of GameJackal . . . then a DOS screen asking me to "press any key" . . . . which when I do . . . launches the game as it should . . . when I exit the game . . . .I'm returned to Windows desktop.

My desire: to not "see" the windows desktop but rather a black screen or a short video or anything but the images of what's happening in the background. To automatically "press any key" and I'm not sure why I need to do that. And finally, to be returned to the GameEx environment . . .not windows desktop.

Problem: I dont' know how to achieve my above desire. I've tried playing with the black screen versus show windows . . . doesn't matter.

Any thoughts?

I think that "press any key" in the DOS window thing might be that you are running these games in debug mode?

I don't think I'm running them in debug mode . . . at least not on purpose. I thought it might be b/c sometimes when I start a PC game, I get a message screen that says something like "It appears you computer configuration has changed since the last time you played this game, would you like to update . . . . " then there are two choices "OK" and "Cancel"

If you click on my signature, there is a link on 'How to Ask For Help'.

Try 'troubleshooting with runitgame.bat' and if that doesn't help 'Post Your Config'
