Right, After my last post decided to go for a Microsoft Keyboad (can't afford a bluetooth one logitech - at £199 ish)

My question is this - what keyboard is the best for gaming and gameex?

Microsoft Optical Elite

or Microsoft Optical Pro?

I can't seem to find any info about the general differences between these two keyboards and mouse also, so if anyone finds any info please post...

thanks.

anyone got any advice to give?

i'm gonna buy a new keyboard within the next few days but i dont want to spend over £100

I know the Bluetooth one is the best but 1) I haven't got a Bluetooth adapter yet (i know i can buy one) and 2) I'm probably gonna go for the ms elite or logitech LX 700?

With GameEx you barely need a keyboard and mouse. Except for reboots and to start other programs not running through gameex. Logitech is fine. I use a cheap japanese wireless keyboard that is fine too.

It depends...

You can try a keyboard like that, but in my livingroom, the basic, regular desktop wireless keyboard and mice from Logitech and Microsoft are totally insufficient for HTPC use. They have a specified effective range of only 6 feet. They are intended to talk to a nearby receiver, not across a room.

I would really suggest splurging on something with a 30 foot range or better.

Right, about to order and I will think i will go for the Mirosoft Optical Wireless Elite Bluetooth edition... but my question is this - how do i connect it to the bluetooth?

It's running on my HTPC ad I know the distance is better than the normal elite usb but does it come complete with the bluetooth adapter? and do you all think this is good enough to run the gaming (pc) part of my HTPC without any problems (eg: online gaming, fps, etc..)

Thanks.

The bluetooth ones work great across a room. It's just the generic RF ones that don't cut it. Not sure how great they are with FPS though. The original Microsoft bluetooth keyboard + mouse I tried was a little latent.

The bluetooth keyboard comes with a USB bluetooth adapter and software. It will have everything you need.
