Hi guys, just discovered GameEx and I've got a couple of quick questions.

I haven't touched emulators yet but have several pc games setup as external apps. Is it possible to have a video preview for each individual game, similiar to the ps3 menu? The logos are working fine but videos would add an extra slick factor. I've been tinkering with the theme editor a little but can't seem to figure out wheather videos per game is within the realm of possibilty.

Cheers

Yes this is possible. A great place for videos is EmuMovies aside from doing your own. Example videos can be found at EmuMovies and also the Main GameEx website. Videos should match the name of your roms.

Hi fRequEnCy, thank you for the reply. Does it also work for external applications, eg. Pc games? I think roms might be different, no?

If it's possible, how do I do it. Is it as simple as putting the video in the logos folder with the snap name?

Are there format requirement for the video, codec and size etc.

It should work, but you have to make sure the name of the application and the video match. One way to incorporate games is using .lnk files in an emulator rather than an external application. If you do it that way, I know it will do videos the way I described. If you set things up the other way, you may have to play with things a bit since I've never messed with that side of things. Tom would know off the top of his head though!

Cool I've gotten it to work, thanks for the help. All was need was to drop and avi file into the \gameex\themes\default - default\media\logos folder with the same name set in the configuration pages.

But now I've a new problem. After exiting some games GameEx remains minimized. I've set up a batch file and added it to the 'launch on exit' part of the config page. The bat file triggers an event in eventghost which finds the gameex window, brings it to the front, and restores it. The bat files works when run manually so it appears that GameEx does not detect that the game has exited and so does not execute the batch file, possibly because it's minimized? Any ideas...?

Most likely, GameEx is waiting for a process to close. Use the task manager to identify additional processes that are running with the game, and use an Advanced Config to close them.
