So, I spent the great majority of my summer of 08 working on a mame cabinet. It was working great, go the registered version of GameEx running, with some awesome 80s tunes in the background, Mame32, Nebula, Project 64 (just for tetris) and NullDC were kickin'

I moved from Florida and left the cabinet with my girlfriend for a year. It apparently worked great, but I hadn't seen it messed with it, or updated it since probably December 08.

I get it up to Boston this weekend, set everything up and the comp boots up, the lights turn on and I've verified that Mame works when run seperately... however GameEx loads to a black screen now. I've tried updating to the newest version, running in an out of windows mode.

System: (same system that used to run fine)

Windows Vista

2GB ram

Repro:

Start GameEx

GameEx initialization screen pops up

Background music starts playing

Init screen disappears and GameEx stays black

Have tried with numerous themes, inside and outside of windowed mode.

Any ideas? What else can I post to make support easier? I haven't tinkered with this thing for the better part of 2 years, I am a little rusty and my non-familiarity with Windows Vista is not helping anything.

Thanks, all.

If you updated GameEx, you may need to email Tom about a new registration code. There was a change in early 2009 (or there abouts) that requires an update.

I'll try and get a new code.

After I rebooted *doh* and installed 12 months of windows updates, the issue went away.

Now I just need to tweak all of the little bugs out of the system and I'm good to go! Thanks all. I shoulda rebooted and updated before posting!
