would it be at all possible to create a portable install of gameex?

this would require using relative file paths for emulators/configs, and probably wouldn't work if anything depended on daemon tools or pre-installed external applications, but i'm curious if it might be possible.

basically what i'm imagining is a 500gb external hd with all of the mame games and several different rom packs that i can take over to a friend's house and get working with minimal setup time.

are relative file paths already supported by gameex? or do you always need to include the drive letter in the file path.

This has come up a few times before. There are other issues with making Gameex portable other than rom / emulator paths. Mainly its is difficult because of the registry entry's gameex needs along with additional framework. Beyond that is could be done with other software but more importantly it is against the wishes of the program author (Tom Speirs). It is not is the best interest of the community as it could and (would) be packaged with roms and distributed with licensed features.
