Avi previews & titles not working since updating GameEX

Hi all!

Before i sound like a whining idiot i first want to say that i frikkin love GameEX! (purchased 2hrs after using it )

Ok this is going to be tricky to explain but i'll try:

I had GE working perfectly, it was showing video previews & title pics in the mame gamelist however i came home after two weeks, auto-updated to the latest version and for some reason they are not working anymore. Titles do still work but only AFTER i have selected the game, viewed it on the info page then backed out to the gamelist again. Maybe steps will be clearer:

1. Viewing the gamelist there are no previews (video or title snaps)

2. I click on any game to view its info page

3. I hover over "Title" on the info and it shows

4. I back out to the gamelist again and it now shows the title pic twice! One where it should be anyway and another above it where the vid preview should be.

As soon as i highlight a different game the 2 titles that showed for the previous game disappear again until i repeat my earlier steps. I tried half a dozen different themes but they all behave in the same manner. I also checked my gameex config incase something got overwritten but its all as should be. I havent moved, renamed or deleted any of my snaps they are all present and where they should be.

I appreciate any hints or guidance on this coz my head hurts lol i know its only a trivial problem but GE looks soooo good with the previews working!

PS All vids are .avi and if needed i can take some screenshots to show the steps above

Sounds like a codec issue to me. Do the avis play in windows media player?

Its also worth trying to do a manual install of GameEx. The video player code was updated recently.

If still not working please post your log. You can also try uninstalling all codecs and then install the "Vista Codec Pack". Works good with XP too.

That sorted it, now i can see the random vid previews everyones on about strange as i've not installed any codec packs before when they worked.

Ah well cheers again, and cheers for GameEx! Its fast becoming my favorate piece of software

Sorry to jump in guys..

But just wanted to say I had the same problem with the previews not showing

and installing the codec pack as above fixed it!

Now GameEx is running sweetly!!

either the codec back offered here or the CCCP over at emumovies will usually sort this out for folks.
