I have Valve's Steam. I am trying to get my almost 40 games on GameEx. Now whenever I start the game, GameEx reopens. My question is: How can I leave GameEx closed until I finish my game without it reopening? I did a search on "PC Games" and I wish specifically it gave me what I wanted to look up but sadly not. Help Gaming Gurus?

What's happening is that GameEx is taking back focus from the game cuz of another process. An advanced config is required to watch the process so that GameEx knows that another program is running (Steam) and doesn't still focus. Try an advanced to watch the executable that is running. Let us know of you need further help.

wow. i actually tried out the same thing today, and had the same results.

there are a few old threads troubleshooting this issue on this forum.

i think the biggest lead i found was to use an autoconfig to tell gameex to wait for steam.exe to close before reinitializing, and then writing a batch file or script to close both gameex and steam automatically together. not sure about the precise details though. i'm a bit curious myself.

Alright, I edit the "process close" in the advance config to use esc. ESC was the only option I could use to end the steam game THEN by pressing ESC GameEx would return. But like twotone8 mentioned, I would like to use an autoconfig to wait for the steam game to close before gameex reinitialize...or something.

In the GameEx Advanced Config Editor if you click on the Process Wait tab, you can set there the exe of the process that also needs to be watched by GameEx.

i tried that. the focus didnt automatically return to gameex. i had to press esc in order for it to return... or is it suppose to happen like that?

i'm a bit confused by your solution. for me, whenever i told gameex to load the .lnk or .url files, gameex would load up almost almost simultaneously with the steam game, and remain open while the game was played.

i thought that was your issue as well.

now, as i understand it, you load the game up, then press escape, and THEN gameex reinitializes, at the same time your game is running?

anyway, it might help for you to add a section in the 'launch after' section to attempt to taskkill steam.exe, and then in the advanced config, list 'steam.exe' in the 'process wait' section. that way, gameex will wait until steam closes to re-launch gameex, and will also automatically close steam.exe when you close your game.

i too sort of wish that you could remap the 'kill' button to something other than escape. there's some info out there on how to do this, but i think it involves some 'autoit' scripts, which i haven't dug into yet.
