Ever give any thought to linking pictures and box art within GameEx? Kinda the way WiiTDB does for box and disc images using USB Loader GX? That would really mash things together nicely. Maybe even make it a Registered Users Only feature. It would really be cool to get a ton of use out of the database.

If your linking was simplistic, even emulators could put out a call to snag them.

Like say Mario Bros was like this:

http://www.gamesdb.com/system="nes"/game="Super_Mario_Bros_(U)"/snap="box"

Not sure that would even work... Or it could use the header instead of the game name?

Maybe I'm just shooting at air here.

I just checked out Alpiner for the TI/99-4A. There is one picture for in game that shows a thumbnail just fine. When I click on the image, it loads the correct image. When I click on "In Game", I get a 404 error. I haven't done extensive testing, but it definitely happens for that game.

I confirm this as well. I tested and it seems this goes for lots if not all images. The links are different so something Tom needs to look into.

When image is clicked as bkenobi mentioned (this particular image) the link is:

http://gamesdbase.com/Media/SYSTEM/Texas_Instruments_TI_99_4A/Snap/big/Alpiner_-_1982_-_Texas_Instruments.jpg

The link for the In Game link is:

http://gamesdbase.com/Media/SYSTEM/Texas_Instruments_TI_99_4A/Snap/big/Thumb_Alpiner_-_1982_-_Texas_Instruments.jpg

Difference is the Thumb_ in the link. Thanks for the mentioning of the bug bkenobi! Hope Tom sees this or I'll mention it to him next time I talk to him.

One other thing possibly worth noting. I was looking at some games on gamesdbase today and found many images not available (not bad links, just no images). I thought many of the titles used to have images, so I don't know if they got eaten at some point. One example is TI/99-4A "Hunt the Wumpus". It has no images at all even though I *thought* it used to. Moby has quite a few images for this title, so I know they are available on the net.

Btw, this is a really nice resource! I was trying to talk old school games with some coworkers and was able to go to gamesdbase.com to get info. My coworker tried to find a game and got some naked girls instead. I'm not sure if I win on this one though.

Hi Tom!!

It's possible to make GameEx download artwork like boxes, snaps, etc.. from dbgames to GameEx for that games that don't have this artwork?

In the Wii console there are some "emulators" or "launchers" that download the snaps or boxes from internet pressing a button. If this is not implemented in GameEx (i don't know about it) it could be a good feauture for a future release.

Another time, thanks for that beautiful frontend!!!

9th April, 2010 - Gamesdbase.com update

Several updates to gamesdbase.com.

Including Intellivision videos and arcade (MAME) PCB's, artwork, commands/moves and in game controls.

The only web site to show MAME controls and commands.

You should use CPW to generate the CP's as it has colors.ini support so the button colors will match. The only issue is getting permission from RandyT for use of some of the control graphics.
