This is a bling release. GameEx now features a video thumb view, allowing multiple game video previews to be displayed. You need a fast PC to make use of it. E.g Quad core. In addition when viewing a list of emulators random video previews for the system are shown continuously.

Looks great but Tom, I tried the auto-update and when it finished installing... nada. I can no longer launch GameEX. I tried downloading the installer from the site and running it and, still nada... I double-click the exe and nothing happens at all. Thoughts?

Can you give more details other than can no longer launch GameEx? Any errors? Can you post your log please?

Was working perfectly. Saw the auto-update, hit enter. It downloaded, installed, but never re-launched.

So, I tried to manually launch it via the exe and nothing happens (cursor has the hourglass for about 1 second then it goes back to normal).

So I downloaded the installer from the web site, ran that, and tried running the exe, still nothing.

Looks like the log is not reflecting that the program is even being run since the update... log posted.

What does nothing happen means? Have you tried rebooting?

Rebooting helps when I get no errors in the log. Like my last case. I updated and would get a black screen and GameEx would not load. Rebooting solved that problem.

Literally nothing... I double-click the exe and the pointer turns into an hourglass for less than a second then goes back to the pointer. The app doesn't launch at all, and the log doesn't reflect anything happening. Have rebooted twice with no luck...

Wow... I tried moving my GameEx folder from Program Files to my desktop (as a backup) and doing a new installation from the installer into Program Files. The app still will not launch...

People think I'm crazy for compiling dll's in VC6 but I still like to so there are no dependancies. This is a perfect example of the reason why!

lol good point :) Its my first .net (CLR) C++ DLL. Completely neglected to think about dependecies. Works nice though :)

Anyway 10.45 is out and includes the files.

Glad to be the lab rat. :P Just so happened I was messing with my GameEx setup when the update hit! Works great though, the multi-previews are very nice!

HOLY CRAP!

I don't think my Athlon 3200+ is quite up to playing 20+ videos simultaneously. I doubt my wife would see an upgrade to a quad core as a "need", but it does look cool! B)

Thanks for the update Tom. Looks great

I'm in the same boat, I think if I spent any more time or money on my cab, then I do now, I would be sleeping with it. In Emularors, how about a third inmage showing the system picture.

Would be :

System Logo

Tom, how about a little love for MAME and Daphne in the Emulated Games list by giving them random preview vids, too? :) The other emulators get 'em so MAME and Daphne look a bit lonely. :P These random preview vids are my fav thing to be in GameEx in a while... excellent choice including them!

I've been waiting so long for this feature. Thanks so much. The only problem with it is that it stresses out only one core while the others are relatively low. Is there a way to optimize the threads or child processes and distribute/utilize all the cores more evenly?

On mine there all maxed out. Core Duo 2.4ghz Quad.

What are your system specs, including video. What codecs are you running?

Im pretty sure its the drawing of the video that takes the load, and the actual playing and decoding should be on seperate threads. Assuming it is the drawing then it will be a bit tricky, but ill look at it when I get a chance.
