Hi. When I launch GameEx from the Media centre in Windows 7, the UAC box pops up & because I run as a restricted user, it requires me to type in the administrator password. I'm sure it didn't do this previously. Does anybody have any ideas why this has suddenly started happening? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. It didn't work, but the error that popped up was informative. It looks like GameEx can't write to a needed registy key:

11:20:33.3 07/02/2010: Error: Requested registry access is not allowed.

11:20:33.3 07/02/2010: at System.ThrowHelper.ThrowSecurityException(ExceptionResource resource)

11:20:33.3 07/02/2010: at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.OpenSubKey(String name, Boolean writable)

11:20:33.3 07/02/2010: at f.a(Boolean A_0, String A_1, Boolean A_2)

11:20:33.3 07/02/2010: at f..ctor()

11:20:33.3 07/02/2010: GameEx is exiting with errors

I just need to find out where the key is.

I've used process monitor to find out what registry keys GameEx is trying to modify. I've come up with these:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\CA

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\CA

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EnterpriseCertificates\CA

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\Disallowed

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\Root

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\AuthRoot

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\SmartCardRoot

HKU\S-1-5-21-**\Software\Policies\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\TrustedPeople

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\TrustedPeople

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\TrustedPeople

I've also created a new user to make sure the profile I'm using isn't corrupted. The errors were the same on the new profile.

I may try to find an older version to download, as I'm sure I haven't had this problem before.

If you go into REGEDIT at command prompt, you can R-Click on a Registry key or hive and take permissions of the set of keys.
