Hello,

Everything runs fine when in GameEx.EXE properties under the Compatibilty tab the - Run as Administrator - option is checked,

But this brings up the - confirm you want to start the application - message which I'd prefer not to have to use.

Unchecking the - Run as Administrator - option which would prevent this msg appearing brings up the following error;

Nothing has changed and its not specific to this release. GameEx is supposed to run under administrative privileges, and when you install it, assuming you dont mess with the installation it will. I just tested and its not a new bug introduced or anything.

To clarify, GameEx has always needed to be run as administrator.

Its a pet bug of mine, so no offence, but please dont assume its a bug in the latest version, just because youve tried something different for the first time :)

ADDITION: Whether it should run under admin is another matter, and I have looked into it. It is possible to change things so it does not need to, however the reason I have not is because it would be a pain for people with existing setups. In a nutshell it would basically involved moving all the configuration and data for the install to my documents or application data. The latter is ok but this folder is hidden. In addition sometimes applications loose write access to this folder unless you only use it for the current user account, and im sure seasoned users would not want all there gameex setup in my documents. In addition if GameEx runs as admin, anything launched by it will too, and some emulators etc need this.

Good to know! I prefer when applications keep all data together whenever possible. Isn't it possible to just tell people to open privileges on the GameEx folder though? Seems like that would be an easy fix for those who don't want to run as admin. :huh:

Ok thanks for the replies. I just presumed it was the update because I always have the - Run as Administrator - option unchecked, and each time I automatically update the option gets re-checked and I then uncheck it again.

This time though I get the error unless I keep the box checked, but no dice its nothing I can't live with and trust me I appreciate the work you guys do, especially the constant updating.

I keep the - Run as Administrator - option unchecked in 7za.exe as well, otherwise when I run a game with an emulator using zip/7-zip/goodmerge the screen goes black and nothing happens because its waiting for confirmation to start the 7za application.
