OK i have plugged my CRT TV in to my Nvidia card with an S video lead set up dual view so the desktop is extended to it and this works OK i can drag open windows to it and maximise them and this works OK.

Then i go in to GameEX set-up and allow GameEX to run to secondary device but when i start GameEX it closes and throws up an error screen.

When gameEx is runnig on pc monitor i can go to more programs, settings, display settings and change to allow secondary device when GameEX refocuses it will jump to secondary display and let me navigate the menus but when i try to start a game the focus will move back to the pc monitor.

Any ideas?

Do you have this problem if you set your tube TV to display as a clone of the primary display? Because each emulator that you use may need to be set to run on the secondary display, not just the GameEx frontend.

You'll probably have to stay at 1024x768 or lower resolutions for the old TV.

No, if i set as clone game Ex runs fine the problem then is with Nvidia as it will not let me set TV to a ratio that fits the TV the only way to fit to TV screen is set my monitor to 1024 x 768 instead of 1680 x 1050 other wise i get the panning effect. i cant seem to have individual resolutions. so i thought a dual display was the way forward.

Within GameEX i have set res to 800 x 600 and to change to this res

OK GameEx now runs on second display after changing the resolutions, but as before when i start any rom the focus moves back to the pc monitor.

so any help setting the emulators to run on second display would be helpful.

I set mine up in Dualview mode, and set the TV as my primary monitor.

BTW: If you are going to SKID on your LID, I'm glad to see that you wear a helmet. smile.gif

Skidding on your lid without a helmet i find just makes a mess of your facial features  , and like my nanny always said "make sure you have clean underwear on as you never know what's going happen"

Okay, reading this thread it seems you're not satisfied yet, so i'll give you what i have done since i got an identical setup..

I think your emulators are still configured for the primary screen, so they automatically switch back, but perhaps my workaround will solve those issues for you as well..

What you will have to figure out, is if (probably though) NVidia has a profile manager like the ATI Catalyst Suite. Basically you can choose the setup anyway you like (just TV, TV is primary, only Monitor, dual screen, etc) and save that configuration as a profile. Once saved you can load this profile via a commandline wich you are then able to use as an input for a batchfile. I don't know about NVidea, but for my ATI i have made several profiles that work as a step-program towards my desired configuration (eg. first profile just switches TV to primary, then pause, then second profile switches off Monitor) contained in a single Batch-file that is launched when i start up Game-Ex. When i exit, again profiles are loaded and i return to my normal setup. I use a step-program to smooth the process out a bit, as ATI doesn't seem happy to make all these changes with one command and gets conflicted sometimes(still by the way...but rarely now). This all may seem pretty hard, but in fact really isn't. Of course i don't mind assisting you but you would have to figure NVidea's way out yourself, because i'm not familiar with it.

The big advantage of this workaround, is that all the processes get automated, so no unnecessary hassle is needed everytime you want to launch your game-ex. At the same time both gameex and most emulators 'like' working this way better. Although most are all 'officially' capable of handling a dual-screen practice shows that in reality you get the strangest problems...with a frustrated mood as a result. Good luck! :)
