Simple problem. I just finished setting up Virtual Boy on GameEX, but I'm having a problem where every time I play a Virtual Boy game, it creates a new file.

So, say I'm playing Wario Land.vb, after I play it once it creates another file called Wario Land.ram.

It wouldn't be a big deal, but that causes the game to appear twice when going through my games in GameEX, and the .ram file doesn't do anything. Also, this doesn't happen when I just use Reality Boy outside of GameEX.

Any ideas?

In your GameEx config for the Virtual Boy, you need to set the 'Rom Filter' to only show the .vb files, do this by adding *.vb to the config.

The .ram files are the state of the Virtual Boys ram and are saved by the emulator. The simplest way to describe them is as save games. You will end up with once for each game.

Hope that helps!

Cool! That worked. One more question, off topic... Can you edit game biographies?

If you are referring to the information that is displayed prior to running a game, then yes! This info is stored in Microsoft Access files and contains several pieces of information that GameEx uses to display things like the year, publisher, etc.

I cannot remember exactly where they are stored off the top of my head (I am at work at the moment), but a search within the GameEx directory for *.mdb will present them.

But.. It is a lot of work to do (specially for a large system). I have just checked and the Virtual Boy DB is pretty much complete. If you are not getting matches, then perhaps your roms do not match one of the current naming conventions (No-Intro, Goodname, Tosec).

If you check in the GameEx config, you will see a setting for "Database". That will be the file you need to edit. It will be called something like "[Console] Virtua Boy" in GameEx and will be "[Console] Virtua Boy.mdb" on your hard drive. I think it's somewhere in the "C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA\Emulator" directory, but I can't remember exactly.
