Is There A Way To Have All Games Go To A Single (Unzipped7-Zip) Folder? cause i have 21 different sets so theres 21 (Unzipped7-Zip) folders. one for each set inside of each console folder. its not a big deal to me but i dont wanna have to keep going into every folder and delete the (Unzipped7-Zip). i would rather have all console extracted roms go into a single (Unzipped7-Zip) then just delete all files from there when im done playing

Maybe you don't already know this, but next time you launch a game from whatever set, GameEx will delete the contents of that folder before extracting the next set. You don't need to go and do it manually you know.

yeah i understand that but i would just like to have 1 (Unzipped7-Zip) Folder for all consoles instead of one (Unzipped7-Zip) folder inside of each rom folder. one universal (Unzipped7-Zip) Folder you get it?

Of course I get it. I got it the first time. :)

The reason GameEx behaves like it does is so if you decide to launch the same ROM, you don't have to sit and wait for it to extract again (unless you play a different game in between). When it comes to, say, N64 7z files, it could save almost 15 mins in some cases.

I guess I just don't understand why you need this feature at all, unless you're worried about HDD space?

Call me crazy, but I unzipped almost everything, except Mame, and and other emulators that handle zips, and the roms that were small emough to not notice the delay. Someday (Not to soon I expect) I will post a vid of my cab running GameEx, and people will want to know why it's so fast...

Some people want to save space, I want to save time. Personal prefrence.

Edit: And I don't have to worry about those pesky Unzipped7-Zip folders. tongue.gif

I've done like Tempest. With the cost of external drives being so cheap, space is no longer a problem. For roms that use multiple files, i've gone to folders to save the unzip time.

This is the way GameEx is coded so it will unzip to the rom's location. So in your case you'll always have multiple Unzipped7-Zip folders. Only solution to have it extract to one folder is to script something that will handle it but won't get help on that here since that would be showing how to do something that's a registered feature. Another solution is you can always get creative with the Launch After feature for that emulator and have it delete the folder by using something like...

rmdir "[ROMPATH]\Unzipped7-Zip" /s

Now be careful with that and test before as I will not be responsible if you mess something up. LOL. But should be what you're after. Or you can always make a feature request for Tom to change the way it's handled and if he finds it to be worth it then can be written in GameEx.

yeah im not good with codes so if thats they way the program is then ill just live with it. not a big deal just wanted to see if it was possible to do without alot of trouble which i see it is

It's not "a lot of trouble" to incorporate what you want. All you have to do is add the line frequency posted to the run after command (copy & paste). He was just saying that he hasn't tried the code personally, so you should verify that it won't delete the wrong files for some strange reason.
