I realized that I haven't put OpenBOR configured in GameEx. I've tried throwing it in with my PC games (I use the 'shortcut' *.lnk config as an emulator for them) but it won't seem to work properly for BOR. It'll load to a black screen, and I can't pick any game but if I press "S", it'll load the first game I have listed.

So, anybody have this running successfully through GameEx?

I can't believe I've never heard of this a quick google search and this looks really really cool

Thought I'd post a link to some videos incase anyone else has been living in the dark like me :)

Sorry I can't help you get it running but when I find some time I'm certainly going to give it a blast

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I've been using OpenBOR for quite awhile on my PSP. Is there anyone here who uses it on their cab? I was thinking of setting up each game as an emulator and putting them in a group. If I can't get anyone to tell me if it works, I'll just give it a try and report back so others can enjoy this great piece of free side-scroller software.

Hi !

I've made some tests here, and I discovered the following:

You can start directly a game if this one is the ONLY ONE GAME in the folder PAK.

This folder is on the openbor directory.

So what you can do.

1- Do a batch file that copy your Openbor mod to the PAK directory.

So you can make a repository folder with all mods that you have, and within GameEx list that folder.

2- In the batch file , FIRST you have to empty the PAK folder. This will garantee that only one mod is inside it.

3- Then make the batch file copy the PAK of the game that you want to the PAK directory in Openbor folder.

4- On the last step, start the openbor.exe.

Hope it helps!

I got it running OK. I just use a different OpenBOR.exe in each folder and rename the EXE to match the game. Then I grouped the emulators together in one big OpenBOR menu. It seems to be working fine, but for whatever reason the name of the game doesn't show on my GamerCard. I'm almost there. :)

.:EDIT:. I decided to give each game it's own folder, and just point GameEx at a folder full of shortcuts instead. That way, when I need to update OpenBOR, I don't have to change the name of the EXE every time. Seems to be working awesomely!

For those that use this, make sure you go get MasterDerico's Jennifer mod. It's fricking AWESOME (although not suitable for children)! ;)

Wow! I'm glad somebody dug up this old thread. I'll try what vsilvalopes said with the batch file. Just have to separate my OpenBOR games.

Oh wow, if someone has a list of "best games" for this I would love to make some vids for it, looks impressive!

Edit: Just tried it, making some movies now, I love this!

Me too! I've been into OpenBOR for a while, and playin it on my PSP and Wii since they started compiling for them, and the PC since it was just plain old Beats of Rage. It would be awesome to have vids and snaps for these! I'm actually embarassed that I never thought to put this on my cab. It's like it's made for the rig!!!

I would start on the Completed Mods if I were making vids. That will keep you busy for a bit. :) Don't forget the Splatterhouse Trilogy!

Anyone wants recommendations, I'd be happy to offer some.

My only issue with this is that some mods require specially compiled versions, so you can't just use the same EXE for all PAK files. :(
