I just spent hours importing all of my CD's into itunes and it encoded them as m4a files. UGH, i forgot to change the import settings. Now Gameex doesn't recognize my files. Using Windows Media Player, is there some way to enable gameex to recognize these files? As a bonus question, what about CD's that are in this format with DRM? Is there a way to show windows media player that I actually paid for these files?

Thanks in advance!

GameEx should recongnise m4a's and it is able to play them. You can either use file audio tag mode, or somehow get windows media player to recognise the files. Im sure there is an add on somewhere. You dont really want reonvert them.

EDIT: It wont play protected m4a though.

Have you tried using VLC player to run those? VLC plays every format I've thrown at it. I set mine up as an emulator to play my mp4's and various other media.

There are some programs that are supposed to be able to losslessly remove the DRM from media files. I don't know what the legality of these programs are, so I won't post any links. I'll just say that if you put "lossless drm remove" into google, you will find some legal and questionably legal programs.

FWIW and IMO, If you own the songs, you should be able to use them how you want (even according to the EULA), so these programs are not strictly illegal, but you know...

I hear you, I should be able to use them how I want... It is such a bummer that I might have to buy a program to be able to use music that I've legally purchased. Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, I hope you all have a great 2010!
