sorry if im missing something here, but ive found the documentation to be a little light - straight after install, when i start gameex i go straight to the nag screen with the option to hit 1 to donate, and anything i press doesnt allow me to do anything. when i hit 1, gameex closes. what could i be doing wrong?

You have to wait about 10 seconds then you can skip the nag screen. Or donate $20 to Tom and he will send you a key to remove it.

What exactly do I do with the key once I have it? I have the key, but don't know how to use it properly. Do I have to edit the Registry?

Honestly, it doesn't sound like you got the key legitimately. Email Tom directly if you are having any problems installing it.

His email address is on this page: http://tomspeirs.com/

Uh, yeah...I did get it legitimately by paying $18 and I figured it out already. Thanks anyways.

For anyone else...

You have to:

1) go into your registry (Run "regedit")...

2) create a folder for "GameEx" under, "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\]"

3) rename the file Tom gives you to "GameExReg.reg"

4) drag that file into the Registry Editor folder you created for "GameEx"

5) run GameEx and the nag screen is gone

An easier method is to just double-click on the .reg file, then click 'Yes' to import it into the registry.

Or more specifically (as Tom emailed me):

1) Save the file as a text file.

2) Click Start > Run > Notepad.exe > OK.

3) Open the text file. Click File > Save As > Select ALL File Types save as GameEx.REG on the desktop.

4) Then open that file by double clicking on it on the desktop then click OK.

It'll ask you if you want to add the file to your registry and you just tell it "yes" (or OK).

Thanks Tom.
