Hello all,

I purchased GameEx some months ago, and installed it onto a dedicated PC that auto launches into the GameEx interface and is run by my controller. My question is, is when attempting to play a Sega CD game, GameEx looks for an iso file instead of booting to the cd. I am using Kega Fusion 3.52. I was wondering if there is any actual CD support for Fusion, and if so, how to enable it? If not, are there any plans for this feature in the future? I tried browsing through the forums, but I kept getting 200 results in the search so I hope this hasn't been answered before, and if it has, my apologies.

To start with, I'm not familiar with Sega CD. However, we can probably figure this out pretty quickly. When you launch a game in Fusion, do you have to mount the cd image to a drive in windows or does Fusion launch the cd image directly. If you launch it directly, then you should just be able to adjust the filter that GameEx is looking for. If the image needs mounting, you can either use Daemon Tools or GameEx's built in VirtualCD drive capability. I've never used it, so you will either need to search the forum for help on that or hope that someone else can help with it.

Thanks for the fast response. What I'm trying to do is use an actual, physical Sega CD game that's in drive D: to launch when I run the emulator. I could make an iso and mount it, I have no problems doing that, but I have over 100 Sega CD games that I'd have to be constantly mounting and unmounting, so using the physical CD would be easier for me. I just don't know how to do that in GameEx.

I would have thought using an image stored on the HDD and having GameEx mount and load the game would be easiest for the user. If you do it your way, you would probably want to have the emulator set up as an application so that it would launch Fusion independant of the game (since GameEx won't know what disc you actually insert).

Yeah, it can be, but storage space for 100+ CDs on the Sega CD alone (forget TG-16, Neo-Geo CD, and 3D0 Cds) requires more HDD space than I currently have. Oh well, guess it's time to upgrade...

Yeah, that would take up a lot of space unless you have a good size HDD which are very cheap now. Anyway in advance configuration under emulators/sega cd page 5 there is an option called "check for cd/dvd" this is normally used for retail games. have you tried this?

I apologize for bumping this thread. But I'm trying to do the same thing. I want to use my original Sega CD discs which run beautifully outside of GameEx in Fusion. But I can't figure out how to do it inside of GameEx. Any one doing ths? Or should I just create Isos?

I would just create iso's IMHO,iso's are better then constantly switching games in & out of drives, its not like they have to be mounted with fusion, and you can keep your original's in the shape they are in now, pretty much what I do with my real turbografx cd's--just me 2 cents :)

Ah, thanks man! I guess I'll be creating some ISOs. Just wanted a second option :)

I'll even 3rd that opinion. UltraISO does a fantastic job of ripping my psx discs. :)

Well you still have the option of doing it the way you had intended in the first place as well. Even though the suggested way is the way to go for most users if you have the space.
