Hello all,

I've been using GameEx for a few years now, and am now about 70% done with my first arcade cabinet. I am having trouble mapping my joysticks switches to act as navigational buttons for up, down, left and right in the GameEx menu. I can map the arcade buttons to the custom joystick input easily, but when I try to set anything as a joystick input, nothing happens. The press a button dialog box just remains open.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How is your control panel setup? What hardware is it using? Im not sure from this if your controls are using a joystick/gamepad device or keyboard encoder?

Thank you for the quick reply. I am in the process of doing mass configuration in game ex for my cabinet. I am doing all the setup and testing with a usb arcade stick, but eventually Game Ex will be running with an IPAC.

However for right now I need help on getting the custom joystick input to recognize my USB gamepad's joystick, as I said before it recognizes the buttons fine but does not recognize the joystick.

Thanks for your support.

Does your USB gamepad have a button that switches between POV hat and digital? I have a logitec that does, perhaps the dpad is set to use analog, which may be the issue. Just checking. More details on your gamepad would be helpfull.

Sorry I should have been more specific. it's a hori fightstick designed for xbox 360. However with drivers it has worked for everything on in windows flawlessly, including everything in GameEx except this case of directional navigation. It uses a POV hat.

GameEx currently does not support POV. I do mean to implement it. In the meantime use digital.

Ah ok, thanks again. it's no problem to set up my control panel now, I'm just not looking forward to hour of crimping and daisy chaining wires, haha.

You say you are currently setting everything up to use a joystick but will eventually be using an ipac? This will mean going through every emulator again to reconfigure the controls, a better idea might be to use xpadder to map you current joystick to keyboard keys, set everything up then when you plug in your ipac it will just be a matter of setting it to use the same keys as xpadder was outputting, meaning you don't have to reconfigure everything again

Just an idea but it's sounds like it's too late as you have everything set to your joystick already

Yes you do have a good point and some of the work I am doing now will be redundant. But a lot of it is trial and error with getting things to run inside GameEx like Naomi and Street Fighter IV so I just need some sort of input to test that is easily and quickly configurable.
