GameEx run movies fine with m4v extensions now but when you browse them no preview movie show and it locks up for a period before you can move to the next selection

What codecs are you using? We generally recommend to uninstall all codec packs and then install the Vista Codec Pack (which does work on XP too).

Using FFDSHOW. Movies play fine.When i scroll the movies in GameEx and get to one that has an extension of m4v, it hangs then a black box appears where the preview should be and the boxart shows. If I don't do anything the box displays weird colors.

You're probably using that old version of ffdshow we used to recommend. You don't need to run the old one anymore since I rewrote the video playback code. Uninstall ffdshow and install the Vista Codec pack.
