more newbie problems

hi i very new to front ends and have limited experience with mame

so i have checked through the search function

but cant really find an answer

i have set up game ex twice once with a video tutorial found here i think

but once set up i cant get things to work

i have mame working on its own

but not in game ex

so here is a couple of problems i have

mame didnt show up anywhere in my game ex menu's---- i had to make emulator 12 = mame to get it to show up

then when i select a game it goes blank and goes back to game ex menu and says ive played it

i did turn the bezel option off i seen that was a fix to something but it didnt fix mine

i have run vertical and horizontal games in mame but neither will work through game ex

what do i do - i did read somewhere about saving a config file or something for people to read how and where do i get it from

Have you tried using the setup Wizard to configure your mame paths?

yes i think i did

in the set up im sure it asked me if i was running mame

and all other questions

then i watched a video tutorial on my pc while i installed it on my lap top

and it still didnt work

If you really want to do this i can run TeamViewer and solve the problem via teleworking.

and what does all this mean and involve

i do want to fix it

i want to get it all solved so i can see if it is what i want for my cabinet build

Have you tried "advanced configuration" - then by selecting "Basic MAME Setting" and seeing if all your paths are correct.

Here is mine for example:

ok just a quick update i tried stella with a quick game and it works although i cant figure game out

stella seems to work through game ex

i will now try other emulators

seems to be getting messy though now

once i get it all working should be easy enough to wipe it all and start again right ??
