Are there any programs/scripts available that can scan your mame roms and download only those avisnaps from emumovies fpt (using your account details of course).

Also I was a little disappointed with the quality of emumovies commercials. Is there anywhere that has high quality retro adverts and intro movies?

Classic ads are only going to be available in SDTV resolutions...best case. That means that if you are watching them on a large HDTV in full screen, they will look like arse. I've noticed that most classic ads are stored in lower quality too, but that might be based more on the source than the actual encoding. I assume many of the ads were resurrected from OLD VHS tapes people had sitting around. You aren't going to get optimal quality off an old tape like that, so you get what you get.

However, I have seen some better sets around that you might be more happy with. Sorry, can't link to any of them based on the forum rules.

I use FileZilla, and it has an option to skip existing files.

i guess best bet would be to download the emumovies vids completely and then use a compare program to match it to your mame rom collection... sorry mate, i don't have a name for you but maybe google can help you... or the others here, tempest once recommended beyond compare, but this was to comapre changes in code...

Beyond compare is capable of comparing the contents of any file (ascii or otherwise). It's not very useful to view the contents of a binary file of course, but it is useful in seeing if the files are exactly the same.

I can't logon to Emumovies FTP right now (I sent an E-mail to Circo) but if you could do a test for me...

Create a text file, and save as TheNameOfaRomYouDon'tHave.avi (Use the name of a rom you don't have ;) )

Go to Emumovies, and try to download the .avi that matches the name of the text file you created, with skip existing enabled, and see what happpens.

If it skips the file (no hash check), I can write a script to create dummy files for the roms you don't have.

Let me know the results of the test.

Actually, you can use the name of a rom you do have, we just need to know if it will skip downloading because of the dummy file.

Circo's set includes different versions of all movies. One of the options is for artwork. You can't easily add artwork to a movie once it's recorded if that's what you are asking for.

Did you still want to pursue this? Or did my idea seem silly?

I tested it, and my method will work. Let me know if you want me to script it.
