Performance issue

There is one spot where GameEx always chokes for me. Itâ??s after I pick a game from a list of games for a particular emulator, but before the game info screen comes up. The list of games and the videos comes up very fast, but then the game info screen for a particular game always brings up the â??please waitâ? progress bar.

Iâ??d like to make this faster, but what is the source of the delay?

1. Itâ??s using a lot of CPU doing whatever its doing, so I need to upgrade the CPU

2. Itâ??s accessing the hard-drive a lot, so I need a faster hard drive

3. Iâ??ve got too many roms and videos, so I should get rid of some (but the list of games comes up fast.)

4. There is a setting in the Advanced Config for GameEx that I can change that will make this go faster

5. Something else

I'm hoping its number 4!

This is GameEx loading all the databases into Cache. This should only happen once per session. How long are we talking about here, and is it in fact only doing it the first time? How many emulators do you have setup?

i still have this issue unresolved, i remember that there was some way to delete cache files to make this work properly. which files were these again?
