Hi all,

I am very new to all this and need a bit of help.

I have basically followed the guide below to setup MAME and GameEx:

http://www.xgaming.com/support/questions/1...nd+the+X-Arcade

I went through the complete install process, changing the GameEx directories to MAMEs directories as described in the install guide. I have dumped some ROMs inside the ROMs folder and have opened GameEx. I look for all "MAME" games and it tells me to update the game list.

It seems to get stuck on the ReadingInfo.dat stage at 25%.

Is there any advice you guys could give me?

Thanks, Matt

I believe I have the latest versions of both as I just installed it today.

The folder that the roms are located in is "ROMs", the folder that MAME is looking for is "roms"...does lower and uppercase effect it?

One other thing...do I need to have MAME installed at all? Can I just setup GameEx by itself without the added hassle of mapping directories to MAME?

Not being funny, but that depends if you want to use MAME.

What do you want to do with GameEx?

I got that impression too. But then I re-read the first post. Obviously this guy has an Xarcade(probably why he read thier guide) and a few roms.

They were probably obtained individually from various sources eg... probably missing parts.

He mentioned about the need to configure Gameex to mames paths probably because even tho its only changing a few paths, for some its a duanting task to even wrap their head around not fully understanding how Mame or command line works.

What we dont know is if it IS hanging gameex when updating the game list or if this is really halting the application. Id like to see some pc specs and a gameex log.

Of course I could be assuming too much.

Thanks Brian... The teacher becomes the student ;)

hahahaha, what ever, I'm sure your right too.. It could be their version of mame. We wont know until we see the logs.

Hey all,

cheers for the replies. Yes I am trying to get Xarcade up and running but having no joy as yet. Just about to run through the install process again.

Will post up my logs if/when I run into trouble.

Cheers, fellas!

Hi all,

OK I have got a bit further this time. I have MAME Plus! Installed as well as GamEx using this guide:

http://www.xgaming.com/support/questions/1...nd+the+X-Arcade

I downloaded the Project64 emulator and configured it with the following settings (below). I opened GameEx, updated the Game list and then the Porject64 stuff appeared. Now I select a game and hit @Play this Game@. At this stage it opens up the emulator but not the ROM. I have to do this manually...any idea as to why this is happening?

Thanks, Matt

You need to change your command line to include the rom path and rom name fields.

Command=Project64.exe

should be

Command=Project64.exe "[RomPath]\[Rom]

Also, you don't need to update your list for all emulators. The update list is only needed for MAME since it does a bunch of other things when it's updating.

You Sir are a legend! Worked pretty much as soon as I added that in.

Mine was slightly different incase anyone else comes accross this:

[ROMPath]\[RomFile]

Will give the rest of the emulators a blast and see what happens.

OK next stage...will this all work OK with the X-Arcade controller? Or is there custom configuration?

Cheers, Matt
