I've been setting up GameEx for the past few days on a portable harddrive, that I plan to transfer onto my all-in-one touch screen, when I get it. I've been doing my best to learn myself, without asking, but a there are a few things I can't figure out.

1 - I'm having problems (especially when switching ROMs or emulators--Gens, FCEU, Project64) of the screen flickering, and showing the desktop for a few seconds, before the ROM loads. Is there a way to have this be seamless, or at least a black screen, between ROMs? I have all my emus set with the same resolution as GameEx and my computer.

2 - This one is probably just me being stupid. I can't seem to figure out how to disable the "Configuration" button on the Start Page. Also can't figure out how to disable DVDs, Jukebox, or Play DVDs. And, one more of these... Can I disable "All Games" at the top of the menu? Can't imagine I missed all of these, but anything is possible.

3 - Also can't figure out how to get the screen saver to work. Maybe its because I'm using Photo Snaps (way too many roms to setup vids) and don't have any video paths specified. Would like to see a screen saver of at least the photo snaps (worst case scenario, I setup the Windows screen saver with my snaps folders, and have that run on its own, right?)

3a - If I can't do a SS that way ^, then I'd like to disable that from the menu also, and can't seem to find a place to do that.

4 - I have a few PC games setup as my "Touchscreen Games", and even when I check "no" for "disable info page", it still goes straight to the game. This means I can't set as a favorite, or see the larger preview and game info. Is this because I'm using self-executable games?

5 - When I'm in an emulated game, I can simply hit Esc to return to GameEx. I also have a USB game pad, so its easy to back out. However, in my PC Games, since it'll only be 'touch' and not use a mouse/pad/keyboard, I can sometimes not back out without hitting ESC. Anyone have a Gesture script to return to GameEx? I know someone used a triple click on the bottom right corner to bring up a keyboard, which is awesome, but I'd like maybe the same thing on the bottom left, or somewhere, to return to GameEx. Might be getting greedy on this one.

6 - Last (for now), is there any way to navigate in a 'thumbnail' format for games/menu items? This one is also a stretch, but with a touch screen it would be cool if it operated this way.

I'm making my GameEx for two reasons... 1 - So I can easily navigate all of my games when I want to play them. And 2 - I want to have it setup with no keyboard or mouse when I have guests, meaning I will have it in Arcade Mode, with most options disabled. Most of these questions are really for situation number 2. Anything else that is a good idea for an 'arcade' style of play, would be awesome, and I'd love to soak in any info you may have.

Sorry to ask so much, but I tried to search. Probably didn't do a great job of it, but again, any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

The only other thing I can think of, is to tell gameEx not to change resolutions.

Display Settings (1) > Don't Switch Resolution > GameEx won't change resolution

The Setup Wizard has a search feature, I think you will be able to find these settings if you try that.

The second page says "Wizard Mode". Select "Search", and go from there.

Sorry, I don't use the SS. Maybe someone else can help you. If you want to disable it, use the search feature in the Setup Wizard.

I'm not sure, but ther probaly isn't an info page for PC games... Can you imagine how complex it would be to have an info page for every PC gam ever made? If I'm wrong, hopefully someone will set me straight.

Try running the test script that BKenobi posted in the other thread. If that works, we can probably help you out. Plesae post in that thread, if the test script works, and you wish to pursue it.

I'm not sure on this one... I think there is a thumbnail view for DVD's. Anybody???

Your welcome. Sorry it took so long to respond. Life gets in the way sometimes....

Edit: I suck at typing, I usually go back and correct my typos, but screw it. :o

Yeah that's how I saw it. You probably don't remember this, but I've been (Took me three times to type 'been' correctly benn,bean,been...) corrected on my spelling too. (Mispelled 'corrected' the first time) the thing is, I can spell just fine. I don't use a spell checker to correct mis-spellings (Mispelled 'spellings' the first time) I can't touch type, so I try to follow along in my head, and (If) when I look up, I see that I typed the word wrong. As you may have noticed, it seems like I mis-spell words with double letters in them alot (Most of the time doubling the wrong letter.)

Yesterday, I figured that if didn't want to take my advice because of spelling mistakes, then tha's (Sic) his choice. Maybe I'll start typing (Sic) after everything I know I mis-spelled. :)

BTW: No disrespect taken.

Lucky for me, AHK lets me know if I type a command wrong. It's a shame that it won't tell me that I mispelled a variable, therfore (Sic) using two names for the what I wanted to be the same thing...

Firefox has spell check built in so I don't have to worry about misspelling words as much as someone who doesn't have a spell checker installed for whatever reason I think it's better having one than not having one and so I keep using an application such as Firefox rather than IE for that very reason even though IE now has tabbed browsing which I really liked when Firefox was the only one who could do it but I never checked any other browser so it's possible that others had it too so IE might be the only one without it and anyway I like Firefox better because it's quicker and not a M$ product which even though I live near Redmond I don't like some M$ products all that much.

Oh, Firefox doesn't seem to have an issue with run on sentences. B)

LMAO

I really should try a new bowser. (SIC) It seems that the two that people use the most are Firefox, and Google Chrome. Have you tried both? I was a fan of Google, long before it became popular, (I wish I had boudght (SIC) at the IPO) So Without knowing anything, I would lean towards Chrome. I don't know if you had heard this, or not, but Google is also planning on releasing its own OS.

I can't wait to see that...

Anybody wonder what happened to the original poster in this topic? :P

I use Firefox. I haven't tried Chrome. My wife works advertising for M$ and is intimately aware of Chrome, but apparently it's more for netbooks than for standard PC's...at this point.

I think we scared him off. Was it something I said, or was it you?

I think it was you. You know that I am benevolent, and un-offensive... <_<

BTW: Belated congratulations on your 4000th post.

Damn, 4000. I should retire! On the other hand, I could provide some useful information to someone.

pffft, not likely. B)
