Quick and dirty poll in a non-poll format :D

I'm laying out my cab controls today, and am waffling between three and four buttons.

How many buttons are typically used in vertical games?

Or, how many buttons have you installed in your C.P. if you built a vertical format cab, and how did you lay them out.

"Discuss amongst yourselves."

This relates to my island-cocktail build.

Thanks everyone.

I should have mentioned that 90% of my games are 2 button, several 3, and I think Vanguard the only 4 button. However I certainly don't have all the available ROMs out there so I'm just fishing for general opinion and experience.

3 buttons is often enough as you're using arcade emulation only. If you plan on playing console titles (PS2, XBox 360 etc) you'll most certainly need a fourth button for some games.

This is a question for RomLister. Please see the Tutorial I Created (Example #2)

Hmmm... Now I'm confused.

I guess it depends on if you want to play Vangaurd, or not.

My Vertical cabinet (Which I aquired from DJ Infinity at a very reasonable rate) has two joysticks, and 2 sets of 4 buttons.

the one player buttons are arranged in a 2x2 square, and the two player buttons are arranged in a diamond (Vangaurd style)

I guess DJ wanted it all...

Thanks,

Sorry for the confusion...it was a dash from the shop to the house in the pouring rain for a quick "what's everyone else doing" while laying things out. A bit of a last minute hail mary for collective wisdom.

I had run Romlister against my current roms.

Are there many other 4 button vert's other than Vanguard out there?
