Here's my Mame Emu Map for use with GameEx. It replaces the laser disc games already in Mame but not yet playable with Daphne. The other Daphne games not in Mame at all are inserted. The Dice games (Pong, Gotcha, and Rebound) and also inserted (not in Mame). The Naomi games playable on NullDc are swapped. Finally (and thanks to Tempest) Radikal Bikers is switched from Mame to the much nicer emu by Aaron Giles, and Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer 2, and Rave Racer are swapped to Vivanonno.

Hopefully all you should need to do is change the numbers below from the existing emulator numbers to whatever the number of the same emulators are in your install of GameEx. The Daphne ones (1000) are all fine as they are. For dice, you'll want to make three batch files in your "roms" directory for that emulator to call pong, gotcha or rebound (since the games themselves are in the emulator executable and called via commandline switches.) I can upload my batch files for Dice if anybody wants them.

Here's the emu map:

# This file allows launching specific MAME roms or rom types

# With an alternative emulator setup in GameEx

# such as an alternate version of MAME or an emulator

# that provides faster emulation.

# Note: a MAME game list update is required after making changes

# here.

# This is a registered version feature

[GENERAL]

# Enable this feature in GameEx and use this file

Enabled=true

# You may not want to list an emulator specified seperatly

# in the GameEx menus

# and make this feature transparent.

# Specify Emulator Numbers seperated by | to hide and use only for MAME

Hide=1000|61|35|49

# Some emulators need the full filename of the rom. ie with the .zip extension

# Specify emulators where the extension should be used seperated by |

Ext=61

# If you want roms for a specific driver to always be visible in the list

# and override any other filters, such as when you dont have the MAME rom

# specify the drivers seperated by |

Driver=

# The following settings tell GameEx when to use an emulator to launch

# instead of MAME. To specifcally specify MAME use 0. To specify Daphne

# use 1000

#

# Example Launches 1942 rom with emulator 10:

# 1942=10

#

# Example Launch rom lair with Daphne:

# lair=1000

#

#

# As well as the ability to specify an emulator to use

# you can alternativly specify different MAME cmd line options.

# To do this instead of specifying the emulator number use

# =cmd=[Command Line options]

#

# Example: 1942=cmd=-noswitchres

#

# To have vertical games launch with an alternate cmd option

# Under [MAPPROPERTIES]:

# Vertical=cmd=[Command]

# Example: Vertical=cmd= -rol

#

# The options specified will replace any other set

# MAME options

#

#

[MAPROMS]

# Specify a list of rom names with an emulator number

# to have GameEx launch the rom with that emulator

# Map ROMS to an emulator on an individual basis

# This overrides any other mappings

# If you want to exclude a rom from any of the other mappings

# Specify it here as 0 (use MAME)

# Specifing a rom and an enabled emulator here will also

# ensure it will override all other filters when updating the

# game list and always be available.

While the 1971 Computer Space machine was the first coin-operated videogame, Pong was the first commercially successful one. The Red and Black countertop unit was the first prototype style placed on location. The Yellow and Brown floor model is the main production style model and can still be found on a regular basis in collections and for sale.

Rom=gotcha2

Name=Gotcha

Description=Gotcha is a 1973 arcade game manufactured by Atari Inc. It was Atari's fourth game after Pong, Space Race, and Pong Doubles. This was the first maze arcade game, as well as the very first video game to cause a considerable amount of controversy, predating other early examples such as Death Race by several years. The object of the game is for two players to find their way through an on-screen maze, attempting to catch each other. The controversy stemmed from the perception that the game's controls, rather than joysticks, were pink rubber bulges meant to represent breasts. The bulges were squeezed in order to control the action. This was done because some members of Atari jokingly mentioned that joysticks curiously resembled a phallus. As a result, it was decided to create a "female game" and this game was henceforth referred to game as "the boob game" by company staff. Later versions of the cabinet replaced the controls with standard joysticks. The game was not well received by the public.

In Bega's Battle, you play a character named Bega. You must face the alien Varga who is trying to take over the earth. You must defeat Varga to save the earth from destruction. Other goals are to rescue your friends Luna, Jobe, and Sony. Once rescued, Luna gave you extra firepower, Jobe gave you the shield, and Sony gave you teleportation ability.

Rom=Badlands2

Description=In late 1983, most video game companies thought that laser disc games were the future of the gaming industry. Everyone was jumping on the laser disc bandwagon. In early 1984, the team of Konami / Centuri, who at the time was releasing games like Track & Field, Hyper Sports, and Super Basketball, decided to enter the laser disc world with a game called Badlands.

In Badlands, you play a character named Buck, whose wife and children were killed by a group of bad guys. Revenge is the only thing on your mind. You head for town, equipped only with your gun, searching for the people who ruined your life.

I'd been meaning to try the add roms feature to get pong, but hadn't played with it yet. This will be nice so I can just copy & paste. Thanks Lawrence!

I can't take the credit for Pong -- Tom included that as an example with the update that added support for games outside of MAME.

It is nice having Pong in there -- how many times have you had a friend over and he/she asks, "Cool, does it have Pong?"
