Since last night, I downloaded and installed the latest version of Daemon Tools from their website so I could get one of my emulators working. Since then, I have been having application stalls, my start button disappears, and well.... my system has been haunted.

After a google search, because I was not sure what the cause was. I had only installed NullDC and Saturn emulator... but after that search... well.. apparently for they do include the usual malware/adware stuff like alot of programs. But I specifically unchecked that.... and so did countless others for the past few months have been in outrage of installing Daemon Tools has corrupted the functionality of their computer.

Beware .. even though opting out of sponsored programs when installing, you still geting third party coding which injects malware into your system. Even directly from the official Daemon Tools source.

AVG has detected nothing after repeated scans, but it has corrupted something.

Try magicdisc and magiciso, works a charm for me, even with windows 7, no other runs except poweriso so far, but poweriso isnt a driver, so it's not really a drive, even tho it shows in cdrom, it wont be detected in nulldc etc... magicdisc does tho, you can also mount via command line when you have magiciso installed too. And it is free of malware.

Give it a try!

Hmm I'm not convinced.. have your read this thread from their forums?

I have nothing against them and didnt know about issues with it before. I hadnt used daemon tools since around 2002. All i know is after I installed it, my system started to act up. I specifically deselected their optional ad programs. And since they just recently decided to add support to windows 7, there's no telling if any injected software has not been coded for this os as well. The problems remained after uninstalling and I just know that google has alot of hits of people complaining about their systems messing up after installing daemon tools lite.

my 7100 build expires next month anyway and will be reformatting my system drive, and will try some of the other apps you guys mentioned.
