pc-engine emu ootake and the menu bar

im using ootake for pc-engine games. the only problem is, that when im using the "alt" key for the second button, ootake shows the menu bar at the top and freezes the game. knows anybody a way to deactivate this?

Remap your controller to avoid using system keys (ctrl, alt, windows, context menu, etc). That's your best chance.

i've been spending the last few days trying to add nintendo ds to my collection and running into the same problem. Even though in NO$GBA I have ALT programmed as a button on my cabinet, windows still responds as i want to see my taskbar. Haven't had this happen on any other emulator.

You could remap your controller to use other buttons and then have an AHK script remap the button to alt for that one emulator. You can then add some code into that script that does not allow for the alt key to be combined with any other windows hotkey to cause adverse reactions. Sorta stupid, but since the writers of emulators don't always think these things through, that's what you get...

I think that you can do everything BKenobi said using an advanced config. You will have to be a registered user though...

Probably, but I've never tried it. It would DEFINITELY be easier with the advanced config tool if you can get that to work. AHK would work too, but it does require a bit of background with coding to get it right.
