Just thought I'd say how great everyone's cabinets look. Makes me anxious to finish up mine. Pacman or Galaga just doesn't cut it on a keyboard and LCD monitor.

David,

I see a bit of blue light coming from your speakers. Are you perchance using the translucent Blaupunkt speakers? That's what I've got in mine but until I get my marquee light installed I don't know how it'll look. Are the illuminated speakers evident even in daytime or simply when the house lights are dimmer?

I bought some cheapo car stereo speakers on sale at Circuit City for like $45. I think they are Pioneer. I had to cut out the old speaker grills to mount them, and imagine my surprise when I powered up my cabinet and the Blue speaker cone LIT UP! It was totally unintentional to have translucent cones, but a very nice addition.

The marquee light of the cab is always on when the cabinet is on, so the speaker grills do glow always, it is probably more noticeable in dark conditions though.

My original intent was to theme the cab in purple, but now I kind of wish I had done the control panel in Blue too. The buttons would be easy to replace of course, but the control panel is hard resin coated. So it ends up purple and blue.

I might replace the leds in the trackball with Blue/Purple too at some point, they are currently red/green.

Considering my project started 5 years ago, was done mostly on a whim with no plans at all and before Ultimarc made it much easier, I think it came out pretty good overall. Of course it's never done ;) In addition to the above things I might change I want to repaint the sides, rewire the entire inside which is a spider web now, remount the marquee which is an inkjet banner print taped to a plexi backer, upgrade the CPU/RAM and maybe the AVGA to the 9200 as well. If money, and space, was no object I would start over with a 27" or 33" WG-9200 and a 4 player cabinet which has ample controls space. In fact my dream is to have separate cabinets for Vector games and driving games since they aren't optimal in the existing config.

Right now I am having fun configuring (playing with) GameEx.
