Cool idea! This isn't something I need, but I know this is going to be very popular for people with kids and such who want to control their game lists for different crowds! Btw, is this cab friendly, or to you need the mouse/keyboard to select the user login?

I had never thought about this as an option before, great idea!!

I use a seperate (command line) setup for my 5 year old son. It works but can be a bit of a pain when you change things. This is a much better solution and also has the benefit of him seeing his face in the login screen, kids love that

This could also be handy for setting up alternate setups for different mame versions etc.

Cant wait to have a play when I get home from work!

tryed useing your gameex login and i must say nice work.

but im having probz setin up the keys .... id like my player1 butt on my cab to enter

and player2 butt to exit/back.

the player2 butt works ok when setup in settings but the player1 butt dont work

i have to keep usein the enter key on my keyboard.

is this down to me ?

The only un-cab friendly features at the moment are the administration that should only be needed for setting up user accounts and password entry. But you could use a password that uses buttons from the control panel and then it's cab friendly. So for the most part it's cab friendly although I have not added joystick support yet, but I may do that if there is enough demand for it.

brill that 1.1.1 all workin gr8 now... is there any way when you login to get it to hide the desktop untill

gameex loads up... or show a loading gameex screen or something like that?

You could change your background to black (that's an option in Instant Sheller), or you could make a background image that says "Loading" in the middle of it. If you do the second, then anytime you have a program load that doesn't have hide desktop enabled it will show "Loading" (or a black window if you choose that instead).

zx12rcarl: I may add desktop hiding in a future release.

Version 1.1.2 has been released and when the next version of GameEx is released you will have a new option in the Exit/Shutdown menu to "Log out [username]". Selecting this option will log out the current user and bring you back to the Login screen where you can select another user.

You can also enter passwords using joysticks as it's translated into a keycode. For example you could have a password that is Button 3, Up, Down, Up, Down etc.

Hi Headkaze, have a question, I use custom menus, is there a way to use this app with custom menus and if so how, I have tried but it logs me out of windows instead of going back to the login window for gameex.

Just another question, i am using this app now and like it a lot but having a small problem!

when logging out the app is locked and I cant change users or log back in, Nothing (but) if I press the button on the mouse it now unlocks, is this a known problem or is there a way to write a script that is launched when I logoff a user to auto press the mouse button.

Thats strange I didn't experience that during my tests. What I've done is add a line to bring focus to the window (even though it should already be in focus because it's window is maximised). Can you download it and try it out?

I am downloading now, It worked fine for me too until I shelled into windows with instantsheller, thats when the problems started, sorry I should have mentioned that first, I will try the new version and report back

No unfortunately it made no difference but I seem to have fixed it with a couple of hotkey scripts that are launched at startup and logoff and emulate a button press of the mouse.

The one at startup presses the right mouse button and then automatically logs in to the last user from the previous shutdown, the other one is set to launch at exit and just emulates a mouse click, seems to be working great

Other users have reported that instant sheller works best when set for "This user only", and that it can cause issues when set for "All users". I don't know if that applies here, or not, I just wanted to mention it.
