Great work Tom! Ill be updating tonight :)

Another update from the hardest working dev I know.

Thanks Tom. Bug fixes are always welcome on my cab. :)

Thanks for the updates Tom!

I don't know if this is a new issue, or the first time I've noticed... After installing the 10.08 update, my GameEx.ini was drastically changed in it's layout

and comment fields I had inserted. I know it creates a backup, and I can use that, but I was curious if this was the normal behavior. This is the first

time I've updated since I made a ton of formatting changes by hand in the GameEx.ini.

Thanks!

View All Games now works properly with custom menus -- awesome (I didn't like having it on the top).

As for the merge feature though -- I tried out my PSX and Dreamcast sets, and no change -- still merged in the games list but not on the info page.

I'm not sure if this is related to the update but now all 80000 or so Mame games are showing in my list.

My Gameex.ini

# Only list MAME games that you have on your hard disk rom directory.

OnlyRoms=True

Thanks,

Forgive me if this has been addressed before. However whenever I try to update GameEX, the downloading stops at say around (35%) and I have to use the task manager to kill GameEX and re-launch. It then updates. Up until this version, now it just stops anywhere from 3%-7x%. I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had this issue ?.

I can download the full exe off the main site which really doesn't bother me at all. I was just wondering about the above issue.

Again I am sorry if this has been addressed before, and I am dragging up an old solved thread.

Thank you for any Input.

Dodel.

I still haven't figured out why this is happening. I am a little nervous to upgrade my MAME Cab since I am having problems with my test machine.

I'm not positive here since I haven't done any testing, but based on how I've seen the updates work and general things I've heard, I will draw a conclusion (possibly incorrect) that might help you... When GameEx installs a new version, it creates a backup of you GameEx.ini. When it installs, it creates a new GameEx.ini from the installer. So, I'm guessing that it then goes through your ini file and grabs the settings that you have and puts them in the new file. The only other alternative is that it will grab the new settings from the downloaded file and put them at the end of your old ini file. BUT, if it did that, then you wouldn't have any significant changes in your ini (which is not the case). As such, I suspect the former is true. If that's the case, then the answer would be that GameEx doesn't support user comments in the GameEx.ini file.

That might not make sense (after reading it, I'm not sure I understand it). Anyway, maybe Tom can explain the real answer.

Its always done that. Sorry!

BKenobi is correct, it basically use the ini from the installer and pushes your settings into it. So it does not preserve the original ini format. I really dont see its a problem these days, as I think the config tools are very good. I for one never do manual ini editing.

Its not related. Nothing has changed in the update routine, it was another issue. Its all working fine for me, so not sure whats going on. Id try a list update again, and check your ini is ok. As I said in the other post, I really dont mess with the ini directly myself sine we have such good config tools.

Ok, the problem was with matching "[". Its definitly fixed for the next release.

Awesome Tom! Thanks.

It makes sense that it was the square brackets doing it -- since a lot of CDs (especially PSX ones) use that.

Thanks for the feedback Ben and Tom. I agree that the config tools are good. I was just doing a lot of Emulator setup, and a text editor was faster...

Otherwise, I agree that I don't edit the INI manually very much.

Thanks for explaining how the update is done.

Yeah, the text editor could be faster for setting up a bunch of emus depending on your directory structure. However, once it's in there, GameEx might move things but it shouldn't break anything. As such, once it's there, even if it gets moved around in the ini, it's better to to maintain things with one of the config tools. I think you got it set up initially with the quickest route and now that it's done, you should be golden (even without your comments).

What does the update to the LCD plugin consist of?

[Edit: Nevermind, I misread that and thought it said "LED plugin" and was referring to Headkaze LCD/LED Plugin]

It does refer to my plugin and the update is really just to do with parsing Mame's cfg and ctrlr files. It does a better job and also keycodes in Mame have changed and I updated the plugin to reflect that.

Very sorry to keep being a nuisance Tom.

I just updated my cab to 10.09 and nothing has changed with the merging for my CD sets.

Deffinitly should be working now, please post the .map file for the emulator and the emulator config.

Thanks for the suggestion, this is what I am having to revert to, however the amount of times this program gets updated (Which is good thing btw, before you all start :P), it's rather annoying that it starts to update then just stops, I then have to alt tab, kill the task in explorer, and then proceed to download from the web, and then install. (Which tbh is as I stated a pain in the arse). However the internal download / update routine in GameEX worked for me to a point, yes it still hung, but I could kill task and simple start the download again via GameEX, and it would complete, install in one go.

I'm sorry if I sound as if I'm complaining (Even with a low post count), I'm just also wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and knows of a quick fix ?..

Regards and thank you for listening to my nonsense.. ;)
