celly Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Ok this Daphne emulator is kicking my ace. Its not working outside of GameEx. I've got the latest copy of it from daphne-emu.com (version 1.0 beta), a Dragon's Lair laserdisk game with all the files, no readme to guide me AND, I can't figure out how to load a game. The forums are down at their site, google has been useless and I just figured you guys might have a better grasp of it. This is the last emulator I'm trying to set up for my cab and its a little frustrating not having it work. Thanks.
Lawrence Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Yeah, Daphne is a nasty one to set up. I struggled with it for some time, in the end what got it working was turning hardware acceleration off. I've used Daphne on several modern machines and each of them wouldn't work with hardware acceleration on. Fortunately everything runs full speed with it off anyways. Are you using Daphne Downloader? It's easier to configure than the normal Daphne. Just remember to turn hardware acceleration off. When you want to set it up with gameex you'll want to load each Daphne game one by one and copy the command line parameters from the daphne_log.txt file in the daphne folder and paste them into the command line section for EACH Daphne game in Gameex -- yes it take a while. And finally -- be careful, if the Daphne front end is still loaded (the Daphne Downloader front end likes to hide in the system tray where you might not even notice it) then Gameex will NOT work with any Daphne games. Make sure to get Daphne Downloader out of the system tray before loading Gameex.
celly Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Thanks Jelly. I tinked with it all night and actually managed Daphne to recognize Dragon's Lair. When the loader begins its now giving me errors. Google showed a lot of hits with people having the same issue, dl-slates.m2v. I have all the correct files, idk. Here is a copy of the log anyway - --DAPHNE version 0.101.22--Command line is: daphne.exe lair vldp -framefile F:\Emulators\daphne\lair_HD\lair_HD.txt -blank_searches -min_seek_delay 1000 -seek_frames_per_ms 20 -homedir . -bank 0 11011001 -bank 1 00100011 -sound_buffer 2048 -x 640 -y 480 --CPU : GenuineIntel 1650 MHz || Mem : 512 megs--OS : Windows XP/.NET || Video : 3DForce MX4000 Series, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000Setting alternate home dir:.Setting sound buffer size to 2048Setting screen width to 640Setting screen height to 480Set 640x480 at 32 bpp with flags: 0Initializing sound system ... Lawrence Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Looking in your log there it looks like hardware acceleration is still on -- try turning it off, it was what got Daphne working properly for me.Also -- judging by the filenames I'm assuming these are files you "acquired" somewhere. You really should get the standard default version working before trying anything fancy like a HD version. If you have the Dragon's Lair DVD Daphne downloader will automatically download all the files needed, and automatically set it up to work (as long as the stupid hardware acceleration is turned off). Get that working first. Then muck around with an unofficial HD version.
celly Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Cool man. I'll put the HD aside and try unleaded. I'll turn that acceleration deal off first. Thanks again.EDIT: I went to the GameEx site and found a tutorial for running Daphne with the FE. Once I get Daphne running I should be in good shape.
celly Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Finally, got it. Woo hoo! This one was the toughest for me. After numerous tries and several downloads, I managed to get Daphne to run on its own. Then, I followed the tutorial from the GameEx website on Daphne 1.00 Setup and it runs like a champ.
