coffeemanuksr Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I've read most of the forum entries in regards to X-Arcade and Game-Ex and I'm still having issues, can anyone help? When I start a game from within Game-Ex (10.07) the game does not recognize the left hand joystick (Player 1)Using Mame32 or Mame Plus! outside of Game-Ex I can use both joysticks and buttons on my X-Arcade (2 Player version not the Tank) with no issues.I can use the joystick to navigate through Game-Ex menus etc.Numlock is not the issue The X-Arcade has been tested using the utility found on the X-Arcade site, and is all ok.I've installed the latest X-Arcade.cfg file found in the latest version of Mame Plus! (as of May 09)I have tried Game-Ex configured to use either Mame32 or Mame Plus! and both produce the same problem. So any ideas now?
chriss Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I also have the 2 Player X Arcade in my cab and I'm running it for a year now without problems... are you using the standard layout where the first three buttons correspond to ctrl left, alt left and space? http://www.xgaming.com/support/questions/1...ogramming+Guideare you running mame32 through gameex? have you tried to run the official mame binary ? (configure by pressing tab when in mame)
emphatic Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Are you using an English keyboard layout (the language setting in windows)?Emph
gryhnd Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 One side of the Xarcade only works when num-lock is in the correct position. Not being at the game machine I can't remember which side nor whether it is num-lock on or off :-D Try toggling that to see.
celly Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I was using an X-Arcade 2 player with MAME32. Similar problem and I think the way I fixed it was I opened MAME32, went to the control config and tried all the ones in there. It turned out that the Hot Rod config worked (all buttons including side buttons) and not the X-Arcade one that was preinstalled. Then I updated MAME .130 and haven't had a problem since.
emphatic Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 The thing with X-Arcade is, that if Num lock is "off", Player 1 controls use the arrow keys. This is bad, as they're not designed to be used along with other keys. With Num lock "on", these controls use 8, 2, 4, 6 on the num keys instead. I remember remapping my default keys (using the hardware in X-Arcade), as I was using a Swedish keyboard layout and it was causing issues in MAME. But as long as you use the English (US) layout and ONLY this, (disable the keyboard shortcuts for layout change) the X-Arcade will work much better. Also, I did have other input issues in MAME with X-Arcade (hanging controls), and started using Raine instead.Emph
