epsxe lmenu problems

I wonder if anyone knows a way to use epsxe.exe 1.7 with key lmenu (left Alt)? One of the buttons on my MAME cp maps to lmenu and causes the PS emulator to act up.

From what I have been reading online it can't be done.

So I 'm curious what others are doing that have epsxe running on their mame cabinets?
