well, hello guys! i couldnt help my self and had to start another build! I think its something about building them up and its real cool once you have made something like this!

Anyway its a table top cab, that ill sneak into the lounge room while the wife is at work,! lol she really didnt want any of my arcade stuff making its way out of my chill out room, what ever ya wanna call it! but gezzzz it would be so much better when i have to sit out in the longe and watch borrrring old tv with her... just flick on the power and ill be having fun in no time. hahhahah

ok, so i have decided to build a sub frame out of 3mm alloy box section , just to give it that real strength.. it may get bashed around buy persons un named! haha

I have not gone from any original plans for this, so its all measure..... think.... look......measure maybe again! then cut!

This is some of the computer thats going to be mounted inside. its a dell pen4 so it will have enough grunt for the normal kind of games i want to have playing!

P4010086.jpg

so this is the front side with the controll section, i made a 65mm front flap so you can get to the keyboard and mouse. it has its own compartment so it wont go slipping down into the cab!

and thats with the flap down! thays all i can show for the moment, 3 afternoons of work... alot more to come!

oh and thats my cat being fully lazy

Have done a little more on the arcade machine. mostly waiting on parts...

The i-pac new ver came, and i fitted that to the underside of the mbf, and wired it up to the 2 joysticks and the 6 blue light up buttons that have been set up in mortal kombat config just the way i want.

The 3 res ones on player 1 side are the escape, tab, and ~ button,

The power button on the front side is directly wired into the pc as the power button as well as the led output from the pc.

ah, the escape red button it wired to the dard drive light , looks cool when things are loading up and i can keep an eye on how busy it all is..

All the other buttons i have wired up to a scann stick controller, so yeah a few hours of noting each wire to each led nd then wiring it up so it looks sweet and mirrored to the player 2 side.

i went with a 50w speaker setup with 8" sub that is mounted inside the machine, I mounted the speakers into the front so its easy to turn up and down the volume with out having to go through windows you know, slow and not instant as you want it!

The Video card came, and i installed that one, i went with a ATI radeon M9200 PCI-e but i have a Arcade VGA card, but that one is going into the other machine cause its getting the bigger arcade screen and chassie.. and the sit down machine will get the 20 inch arcade screen thats in the stand up one.

thanks tempest, getting their... just have to cut a few holes for the chrome air vents and mount a decent size extraction fan behind it. and undercoat the sides and base coat them black, an clear coat it with 2pac with prismatic flakes through it!

"HAHAHA" may be hard to see for sure. bkenobi

You should also put lights underneath it so it matches your car. Seriously, I've seen it done, it's pretty cool.

HAHAHA you know i was thinking about doing that... lol but not 2.1 mil colour led deals. lol was thinking of just clear white or maybe a nice blue led glowing from under the lid onto the floor.

ORRRRR even cooler, take longer but make it so the leds will chase and do pattens around the table its self ... hmmmm the cogs are turning....

lol, but tomoros work on it is to paint undercoat and spray the sides, and fit the exhaust fun and grills..

With the leds i would have to use the square 4 pin ones, and not 3mm or 5mm types due to mounting... hmmm ya got me thinking now..

yeah my car is stupid with leds. i should put up a link of it.....

CHECK OUT THIS LOL

That's sweet! You obviously have some time into your car... :)

Try Googling "Chasing Rope Lights" as a possible alternative for your cabinet.

lol bkenobi, a few people have said that to me... its got alot more, my wife didnt really show them all but im sure you get the gist of it...

i had a look at rope light, tempest. but i kinda think full costom led lighting. i was thinking of maybe neatly run one set of 6 core with a common ground and made chassers to do exactly what the buttons do.. hmm

I got the sides all painted up black with sexy sparkles through the 2pac clear. mounted the lock and fitted the chrome air vents...

If anyone needs some of the nice little chrome vents i have a heap spare. they are like 70mm wide by 40mm heigh.

im still unsure how i am going to attack this top. as in mounting it neatly and making some sort of bezel for it... I shall take some pics.

Well i got the Gameex logo sign made up and fitted in just nice, There will be some flashing to go around it to make it all neat. the sides are painted up and vents in, a cooling fun has been fitted to the inside to get more air flow. neon tube behind the gameex bezel ahhh soon as i get this bullshit 29" arcade screen power problems sorted i can get started on the top and fitting the other screen.

Im honestly not too sure if i want to use the 20" screen in the flat top. its just so small.. and i kinda like how i could have a flip up screen so your not looking over the table.. hmmmmm but the lcd has crap res, and i really like true native res

what do you think?

I think I would consider upgrading the legs you installed. My wife wouldn't let me bring something mounted to saw horses in the front room. ;)

Looking good!

hahaha, yeah the steel legs may cause a bit of damage to the tiles. and i would get shot.

what do you think? lcd so it can be stood up like it kinda is... or go for the native real screen?

Posted

I like it stood up, but if you have room, you could mount it to the top, and have the top hinged so you could have it both ways, and adjustable for angle.

It looks great BTW.

Hey, I just noticed the speakers. That's the same model I'll be using in my cab too :D I might stealth them though, not sure yet.

That would be kinda novel (tilting top with monitor attached). You could then have easy access to the guts too. Personally, I like the look of a cocktail table better than I think I would one with a hole in it for the monitor to pop out of. However, I don't know if I would like looking down at a monitor for extended periods as you do with a cocktail.

My cabs are off more than they are turned on, so mine have to look good just sitting there. I would personally need a solid glass top for one in my place. That's just me though...
