PinMame Again !?! + Possible Bug Report

Hello All,

I am sorry for bringing this one up again but PinMame/Visual Pinball are still not working 100% for me. I have scoured the forum for answers but not come up with a solution yet.

The problem is that the scoreboard will not show up on any of my tables once loaded. There is no mention of anyone having a problem like this on this forum so I must have something set up incorrectly or installed wrong. Could someone post their config and also tell me how they have the 2 programs installed on there hard drive. PinMame is obviously working because the tables have sound and are playable. It just isn't working 100%. It does work properly when I use Visual Pinball on it's own. One other thing I have noticed is that when GameEx loads Visuallpinball/Pinmame i dont get the Pinmame Splash screen like I do when launching a game from windows

Everything else is perfect. It quits when I want it too. I can use the flipper buttons on my X-Arcade (Thanks to Tom). I can play the tables. I just cant see the scoreboard

Also, I have recently started using music in GameEx and have noticed that sometime the music dosent stop when playing a Game. Or it will try to pause but end up sounding like a stuck record (just repeating the same piece of music over and over again). I am not sure if this is a GameEx or Media Player problem. I also cant pin down what causes it exactly as it dosent seem to happen all the time.

Cheers

J.

P.S. Is there a way of getting the first list that Jukebox shows to be "By Album" rather than "All Music".

That's a strange problem. I've used a countless number of low level functions to bring the VP window to the foreground, but I've never seen it hide the DMD.

Is VP set to a a full screen mode? You might also try changing your color depth. What video card are you using?

Hi Dj,

I have noticed something new. If I press Ctrl and Tab when the table has loaded the scoreboard briefly appears and then disappears behind the Table again. If I press these buttons a few times eventually the scoreboard stays in front of the table. So whatever is being used to hide the Visual Pinball window is also hiding the scoreboard aswell.

I have tried using different video options on Visual Pinball. And it is set to full screen I just dont seem to be able to remedy the problem.

Also I dont think it is the Video card either because it works perfectly when I load a table directly from Visual Pinball.

The Graphics card is an ATI Radeon 9200 128MB AGP with TV out.

Cheers

What version of VP and VPM are you using? I'm using VP 6.1 with VPinMame 1.52. I have not tried it with VP7.

The VPM (DMD) window is supposed to be a "topmost" floating window. Something is making it behave like a standard window. The vpauto.exe script continuously forces the VP player window to the foreground, because the VP editor will stay on the screen and/or you won't have control over the table. On every system I've tried, I've never seen it push the DMD back.

I did find another way to do this that might work better with your system, though. I would have to update the vpauto.exe script. But first check your VP version and let me know if you are using 6.1.

O.K. I have uninstalled and re-installed Visual Pinball and PinMAME to the same versions as yourself. I also added the xpfix and changed my GameEx config accordingly. It still dosent work though.

The only thing that has changed is that Ctrl and Tab bring the scoreboard forward but it will not stay there anymore. So it is definetly getting forced behind the Visual Pinball window.

Any sugestions?

Unfortunately that didnt work DJ. This time I had to click on the table to get the lights to show (Music was playing in the background, so everything was running properly). I also had to ALT and TAB to get the scoreboard in front of the Table again.

Thankyou for trying though

But is it still pushing the DMD to the background? I'm assuming you're running XP since you said you installed the XP fix. I just wish I had a system that behaved like yours so I could test it.
