I know this is kind of OT, but my PC inside my Mame cabinet runs GameEx so maybe it's close enough to being on topic. Anyway, I have had this PC in the cabinet for at least a year and use the "resume last state" setting in the bios to have it boot up when the power switch to the cabinet is turned on. I also have everything in the cabinet: PC, marquee, moniter, etc. plugged into a smart strip so that when it receives power everything is cut on.

Here is my problem. I added a powered USB hub to the setup to add external USB ports, and after adding that to the mix when I flip the cabinet switch the PC goes into a standby mode, I then have to flip the switch a second time to get the PC to boot up. Everything else comes on the first time the switch is flipped. BIOS settings are unchanged. I have tried changing the port the powered hub is plugged into with no success. I need the hub, and everything works great with the second flip of the switch, it's just bothering me that I can't figure it out.

Any ideas on what's causing the problem?

Have you tried setting up the USB hub so that it's always powered? It's possible the hub or the devices aren't waking up at all or in time.

No, right now I have everything plugged into the smartstrip. I will try plugging the hub in and see if it fixes it. Kind of stinks if that's the problem, since the smartstrip allows just one plug for the machine. Thanks for the input.

Er...what's the problem? The USB isn't being recognized? (sorry...low blood sugar right now)

No, the usb hub is recognized once the pc boots up. Problem is instead of the power switch cutting the pc on, it puts it in a standby mode, it takes a second flip of the switch to actually cut it on.

Oh, well that should be adjustable in the BIOS settings and/or Windows. Not all motherboards give full flexability for that type of stuff (my main cab's mobo sucks for power features). If yours has these settings, you should be good to go.
