You can use either a single video or any video in a single directory. Start the Setup Wizard and search for video. I don't remember the exact menu, but there's only one or two options that will pop up, so you should be able to find it really quickly. Let us know if you need more help.

There is no way to have the boot up screen for windows use a video. You can have an animated bar and perhaps more if you know what you are doing (I don't), but it would be pretty lame IMO if you could. You can have GameEx run a startup video like the machine running GameEx that's linked in the stickied thread that uses the lightning intro (FWIW, that's what I use). Effectively that's the same thing, so I don't think it's a bad solution. Besides, if you use Instant Sheller, you really aren't launching the Windows GUI anyway, so doing that would look fine.

Now at this point we are using Default alpha Blue as our theme and by default this this has a Video start up and ill now show you how to change this video so you can have your own ....

The first you need to do is find the video you are going to replace with you new video. Please change the video to a WMV file. You can do this trough the windows movie maker that is on windows xp and windows vista or any other program you can get you hands off the net. Im not going to teach you how to do this. it is upto you to do.

What we are going to do is move this new video over to the gameex Theme folder and then replace the Vido that is there so that it plays your video insted on the one it normaly plays.

Again ill do it step by step ...

Oky

here we go how to replace your movie with the old movie so that you can have a custome into to gameex ...

1) goto start menu , then program files, then gameex and then "RIGHT CLICK" on Gameex Icon

cfg13.jpg

2) Then move down to properties and "left click" on that

cfg14.jpg

3) A new window open with gameex info of were it is installed. Im doing it this way as people install game ex in diffrent places and im running windows Vista 64 so i run it a little diffrently but doing it this way shows how every one can access it and find it easly.

any left click on "Open File Location"

cfg15.jpg

4) a new window open up were gameex is installed. Left click on "themes" and open it up

cfg16.jpg

5) Then left click on "Defult Alpha Blue"" (this is the theme we choie to use)

cfg17.jpg

6) The left click on intro Movie

cfg18.jpg

7) Now you can See the *.WMV Movie called "Gameex Initalisation.WMV" or "Gameex Initalisation". You need to rename this to some thing like "Backup"

cfg19.jpg

cfg20.jpg

8) Once you have done that then move your New movie into that folder ....

cfg21.jpg

9) Now rename that movie to "Gameex Initalisation.WMV" or "Gameex Initalisation"

cfg22.jpg

That is it . when you start up gameex you now you have a new intro movie .... Have fun .....

That way will work, but if you want to have this universal across any theme you pick, you can just go to the Setup Wizard, select Search, type in "video" (without quotes), and enter the only menu that comes up. There will be a box for a startup video path that can be either the path to a video or the path to a directory containing videos. Select to enable startup videos and you should be good to go.

There are advantages to doing each of these methods, but for what you are trying to do, either will work. Thanks for the VERY detailed guide Mayhem! ^_^

just tested that method out using search and you get a few menus and still cannot find it lol ...

Another way is to goto you Gameex system like i showed above by right click on the gameex in the programs folder then left click on properties (The reason for this method is i do not know what OS you are using and i do not now where you installed gameex hence its best foe me to show you this way to cover all aspects and diffrent Os's).

Then goto CONFIG folder

Open up by double clicking GameEx.ini

The in notepad (this will auto open) click on the top menu and click on find.

Paste this into the find box "# Specify a Video to play at Startup. AVI, MPG:" with out ""

Then click on find.

You will now see undernith "StartupVideo=C:\Users\admin\Backup\Other\Movies"

Change that to were you move is such as "StartupVideo=d:\movies\what ever.avi"

Then click on top menu and save.

This will give you the start up video on what ever Theme you are using. If you like it done in easy pics just ask.

There are even more ways such as random video and other things like that but i think once you grab the basic idear of how to change things its a good start, Dont run before you can walk.

Gamex EX may look a little daunting when you first start but over a small ammount of time youll learn how it all works.

Yup, that's the setting that will be changed. I don't know why it's hiding in the Setup Wizard. That's how I set mine up...odd.
