I've seen it before a while back. Its not a GameEx bug, but DirectX conflicts with other apps.

Are you going to start posting new topics soon ?

ok here's my bug report again for everyone else:

there seems to be some input bug where sometimes the controls will go nuts (ping-ping-ping-ping forever) like someone is holding a key.

this can be when using keyboard or joystick to navigate.

only way to fix i know is exit and restart gameex.

has happened to me 2 or 3 times, the last time was after exiting a game in MAME32plus v0.101.

WinXP SP2 system, DX 9.0c,... what else could be relevant?

i'm hoping others will report this and what their situation was so we can start working out whats causing it/how to prevent it.

I have never seen this happen. Could it be your game controller is too sensitive?

If you're using a wireless keyboard of some sort, and the connection isn't perfect, it's possible for the computer to get the "Key Down" message but not the "Key Up". If it starts going "down" on its own, hit the down key to stop it. It's possible to create problems by pressing keys while doing SendKeys combinations also.

It would be helpful to try and narrow down which of the input devices is causing the problem.

yes I am using an IR keyboard, so that could be related. not sure how to test this so it happens rarely enough to be difficult, but next i'll try pressing the common navigation keys on the keyboard (backwpace, arrors etc). thanks.

edit: but if it was the keyboard getting stuck, why would restarting gameex fix that?

edit2: i'll try turning off directinput in gameex options, maybe that'll help.

That type of stuff happened to me all the time with an IR keyboard. When you close and re-open GameEx, GameEx won't get another KeyDown. It's just a matter of it not getting a KeyUp message to tell it to stop. It can also be caused by unexpected interactions between SendKeys (or JoyToKey type apps).

havent had any further problem like this since disabling directinput option in gameex - but then, doesnt happen that often anyway and have changed several other things like GameEx version.
