I'm using FB Alpha for two games..

Double Dragon and Double Dragon 2

mame sucks with double dragon it slows down half way thru level 1.

FB alpha emulates the game perfectly..

When i open FB alpha and load the game from the drop down menu it starts up fine.

But when i load it from the command line or from game EX the sound is slow.

in fb alpha the sound bitrate has to be set to 48000hz if its at 44100hz the sound is slower than normal.

if anyone has a solution to this issue i would appriciate it.

does anyone play double dragon? slow down is unplayable in mame. (wish it wasn't, i hate to run FB Alpha for 2 games)

So when you run from the menu you're running at the desired 48000Hz samplerate? But when you run from command line it's set to 44100Hz? Just trying to understand completely to help in testing.

yes i set it to 48000hz from the menu. but when it launches from the command line i dont think it stays at 48000hz.

i looked at the config file and it says 48000hz. i dont understand why its doing that. i tried different versions of fb alpha. they all do the same thing.

i looked for another emulator that would run double dragon 1 and 2. and i didnt find much.

its drivin me nuts!!!! of all the games DDragon was my favorite from my childhood. and nothing will run it.

AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

thanks for your responce. I haope i can get this figured out

Hmmmm. I don't have any sound issues that I can hear. I'm running FB Alpha 0.2.97.04. If it says in the config than it's obviously saved to run at that samplerate. Have you verified in the menu that it's still running at that? If running fullscreen from command line then just hit Alt+Enter and make sure it's still at 48000Hz. Although I would believe it to be if it's saved in the config. What particular rom(s) are you running so that I can test. Please tell me the rom name, not the game name which i know is double dragon & double dragon II.

okay, so i checked it out.

it stays set at 48000hz even though its launched from command line.

but only on double dragon 1, the sound is slower than normal, but when i launch it from the fb alpha menu its starts fine.

i tried a version of FBA called "Final Burn Alpha Shuffle". it does the same thing, but.... it has a feature that lets you toggle emu speed with SHIFT + or -.

and if i launch the game from game ex, or the command line, the sound starts slow, and if i toggle emu speed up to 150% then right back down to 100% the sound goes to normal..

weird huh? and its only on DDragon1... DDragon2 works fine :) i was playing it just now

and i tried all roms ex. ddragon.zip, ddragonu.zip, ddragonb.zip, and all other boot legs, and ddragaonw.zip, ddragonw1.zip

thanks again for looking into this strange problem. :)

Hmmmm. Again I don't notice a difference but I'm hard of hearing anyways. LOL. I would guess it's either the emulator or could even be the rom for that matter. Does your rom match the version of FBA that you're running? Sorry I'm not much help in this but I'm unable to duplicate.

You will have to forgive me, if this doesn't apply...

I'm not sure what this means:

does anyone play double dragon? slow down is unplayable in mame. (wish it wasn't, i hate to run FB Alpha for 2 games)

If it means you don't want to run it as a seperate emulator from Mame, then you might want to look at Mame Magician:

If you need any help, let me know...

yes my rom matches.. hmmm Rreq, you didn't notice a diff. its pretty subtle, im picky like that. i dont think all the versions of the roms i have are bad, and i tried it on 3 different pc's.

if i could write a batch file or something to execute a keys stroke once the game was loaded it would work. i just have to hit SHift +, Shift -.

thanks tempest for the info on mame magician. thats looks cool.

Maybe just try running under a different emulator since you're only running for those 2 games anyways. You say Double Dragon II runs fine? So only issue with Double Dragon. According to MAWS, Double Dragon runs in these emulators:

* Calice

* Kawaks

* Nebula

That's all I can suggest other than your batch file idea. Sorry. I just don't hear the difference on my end. You must have bionic hearing or something. LOL.

those emulators will run Double Dragon NeoGeo. the old one is a different game.

the old technos / Taito DD is what im trying to emulate. are you testing it with Double Dragon NeoGeo?

the sound slow down is pretty noticable., but i do have bionic hearing too :)

Ahhhh I may have been running the wrong one. I'll get back to you later when I get back to that system and try the roms you listed.

You should list the rom file so that you're working with the same thing. There are too many games that have the same title from different manufacturers or just different regions...

Well now after testing the correct ROM, I see what you mean. I tried different combinations and no luck. So only solution would be to do what you had planned with a batch or a script. Seems like it's the emulator itself. Maybe can post this issue to the FB Alpha devs.

well i'm glad i'm not just crazy. :) but sad about my beloved double dragon. thats a good idea though. ill post on fba's forum.

now i must get back to the pain staking process of completing the perfect screen shots. ooooof ;-/
