Is it possible to install GameEX on a USB with all my emu and carry it around with me?

It would rock to plug in my a USB, launch the FE and start playing. Plus it would be a nice backup.

You can install GameEx in whatever location you want. Using a USB drive should work, but you should be aware that you still need to have some registry entries on the computer. If you went to the registry editor and exported all of the GameEx related registry entries to a .reg file, you should be able to run that on the host computer prior to launching GameEx. I haven't tried it, but in theory it should work...

I searched the registry but there are a lot of registry entries regarding GameEx. Also, I believe some dll files also have to be registered.

So I think it will be quite a challenge to get GameEx portable like that.

I'm not sure about the dll's. I wasn't aware of any, but if there are some, then yeah you need to register them as well. The easiest thing is to keep a copy of the installer on your drive as well so that you can just install it when you are ready to use it on that machine. That will do everything you need to and you'll also have your GameEx all set up and ready to go.

I found a freeware named mojopac that claims it can make any program portable but I wont have a chance to try it out till monday.

If I were to use the installer from a USB is there a way I can point it to a use a predefined configuration?

My stance is always GameEx should be installed. As said though theres no reason why you cant install it to the USB, then on each pc just install it again. The issue is though that the stick may be on a different drive letter. So theres no real easy way to do it, and I dont really want it (the hard way) coevered on the forum, as GameEx is not to be supplied with ROMs, and yes I realise it may just be for your use.
