Can you remove title options in GameEx main screen

I am running an arcade monitor in my cabinet and it runs at 640x288 so real estate is very valuable.

On the main screen for gameex i want to keep favorites, all mame, standby and others but I would like to remove weather, music, radio and other options that I don't use.

This way all selections will show up on a screen.

I am not sure if I can do this or if I have to make a whole new theme ( I hope not ).

I checked out the topic on themes people have made but they are all high res.

It would also be nice to take out Titles by year, and a few others on the horizontal menu.

I am using the default low res theme.

Another question i have is regarding disabling certain gameex options. If I set exit to false and no update list and those type of options so my friends and kids can't screw things up, how would I get into those options when I want to make changes ?

I leave Gameex run all the time and I put it in standby when not in use ( it shuts down all my fans etc ).

Not theme related...they are generic config. options.

All those things you want to turn off are options you can switch in the Setup and/or advanced Config programs.

WRT Update, etc...you have to turn them back on when you need them, then turn them off again...also in the setup/advanced config proggies.

Yes that worked.

Although I found the setup programs would not take out everything I needed,

but going into gameex.ini and setting everything to false did the trick.

The only option I couldn't get rid of was : Update Gameex ( not the update list )

Thanks,

Update GameEx can be disabled by changing the Enable Auto GameEx Updates found in the Enable/Disable features of either GameEx configs. Default setting is Ask me If I want to update and you might be looking to set this to Disable Automatic Updates if I'm reading correctly.

Sorry, I made a mistake, the only item I can't remove is "Gamex Homepage"

Also, I suppose the top menu ( games by year, manufacturer, etc. ) are theme related ?

You can get rid of "GameEx Homepage"...I don't have it on my system. I believe all the options you had difficulty removing are located in the Web options (or whatever Tom called them...HTML applications?). Anyway, the weather, news, radio, etc are all in that section. You might need to use the Advanced Configuration Utility instead of the Setup Wizard.

Right you are.

I found it.

I had missed it in the ini file.

Thanks again.
