Problem with manual viewer

Ive got the registeres version and want to use the manual viewer. everything is configured right and i can see the button "manual". when i want to open the manual it looks like the screen wants to switch over (it moves to the side) but comes back immediatelly and the manual doesnt open. Im shure that it worked a while ago.. does someone know how to deal with this problem? or is there a way to reinstall the manual viewer without loosing all the configs taht i made :( ?

Sounds like the manual viewer is not installed. You should just be able to do a manual install of GameEx and select the option. You shouldnt loose your config under normal circumstances. There is also a standalone isntall version on the web site.

Hi all, I had this exact same problem some time ago, and Tom advised me to delete the following file:

Delete C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA\tmppdf.pdf if it exists

That was the cure for me, hope it helps for you too.

Okay localized the problem:

theres something misssing in:

C:\Programme\gs\gs

guess its ghost skript??

im going to doenload the standalone version, thx tom!!

an other thing i noticed: the viewer takes a looong time till the pdf opens. guess it will be converted? any chance to speed this up? e.g. by converting all manuals and replace the old ones?

Yes, the delay in opening the manual is caused by the conversion of the pdf into whatever format GameEx needs. There is currently no way to preprocess all manuals, but perhaps that could be a feature request?

I have a fast CPU (core2) but it still take a lot of time opening the "big ones" like Final Fantasy Walkthrough

another prolem accured:

"game manual images not found"

what does it mean? :blink:

noticed that he tmppdf is creates in my dic c:\system\gameex\data

seems like it cant find it, but why?

editedit:

reinstalling the manualviewer doesnt solve the problem. already updated to v9.93.

Edit: temp file is created ccorrectly, but gameex doesnt open the file. maybe theres a registry path wrong?
