[RESOLVED] Having issues with my new X-arcade Tankstick and GameEX

I just purchased a new X-Arcade Tankstick after seeing the reviews and raves about it but how do I pick that stick under the GameEX configurations?

All my buttons work but the control stick doesn't work at all.(Any direction) when I start up the front-end.

I got a feeling something is wrong with my purchase.

Naw, it should be fine (X-Arcade stuff is pretty solid from what I've read). Those CP's use keyboard encoders, so you can test it by using a key capture program (check the main GameEx site under downloads for one such app). The default keymap is the standard MAME layout AFAIK. GameEx might not use those same buttons, so you will either want to remap the stick or remap GameEx with custom keyboard inputs if that's the case.

GameEx should work out of the box with X-Arcade. As per XArcade instructions is Numlock turned on?

EDIT: Like I said it should work out the box with no special input settings. Ive got an xarcade myself. I know your supposed to turn on numlock though. If that does not do it then check youve not se any special input settings such as DirectInput, SlikStik or custom controls.

If its still not working, there may well be an issue with it.

Yeah I know this thing should work out the box. I returned it and got another one. On the input screen under the gameEX setup what should it look like?

This is my first stick, I keep hearing everyone just plugs it in and it works. When I start a game on GameEX the Player 1 Control Stick doesn't do anything. The Player 2 seems to respond. I'm on the second stick same problem so now I know it's a setup. I didn't think I had to use any special/custom config files. grrr

When you start a game? Your initial post indicated that you were referring to GameEx itself not working? Are you talking about MAME?

Ok so I did receive a new tankstick. (very good service). I'm using MameUI32 and I did not know the old xarcade.cfg file was not usable anymore. I was able to locate the new xarcade.cfg file and loaded it in the "ctrl" folder and pointed MAMEeui32 to that. I'm guessing that did the trick. All the buttons work like the are suppose to, tough I only had issues with the Player 1 "stick" not working (Once a game started). Ok so I'm back on track.
