Complete Set of Mame

What is the easiest way to get rid of all the "crap" in a complete full set of MAME roms? I'm doing it manually and it's pretty time intensive. Is there another way to do it that easier / quicker?

Depends on what your goal is. If you are trying to reduce the list to a more manageable size, you can use the filters like Adultery suggested. In my case, this reduced my romset from ~7000 to ~2000. There's stuff in there I would never play, but I leave it in there in case someone else might want to play it. BUT, I don't have duplication (US, JAP, RevB, etc) for each game in MAME.

If on the other hand you are trying to reduce the size of your romset's footprint on your hard drive, that's more difficult. If that's your goal, I'll wait to hear it before I start thinking about how to deal with it (non-manually).

I guess to reduce the file size of your set you could use a rom manager like clrmamepro and strip out the stuff you wont need

If you want to actually remove certain groups of roms like adult or majong I've had alot of luck with the mame content manager program here: http://www.mameworld.net/mcm/. It hasn't been updated lately, but if you get the latest catver.ini file here http://www.mameworld.net/catlist/ and use it with this program to get rid of stuff you don't want.
